I'm a bassist with 20 years of experience in recording creative, groovy and high quality sounding bass lines. I love bringing deep pocket bass to songs, and always prioritize the music.
I am a professional bass player, composer and arranger who has toured thorugh Europe, USA and China.
I play a lot of jazz, but love also playing pop music, r&b, funk. Besides my work as a bassist, I also play some piano.
I have an old french double bass that sounds beautifully, an amazing vintage Fender P-Bass and a Fender J-Bass that I love.
Recording bass lines at my home studio is one of the activities I enjoy the most! I love working on new projects, and always do my best to make every artist/producer feel satisfied. I'm very meticulous while recording, and always focus on finding the right bass line for each song.

Mauricio delivered another solid bass track for my project! He played exactly what was required and delivered ahead of what he promised. I look forward to working with him on another song in a few days!

I am very happy with Maricio's work on the track I sent him!! His tone, intonation and execution were spot on and he was very responsive to my thoughts about the direction I wanted the music to take which led to his nailing the bass line on my recording. He even sent three takes for me to choose from which I greatly appreciated! I have already asked him to record two more songs for my album!

Highly recommended double bass and bass guitar player. He capture the essence of any music. Was a big pleasure to work with him in different music styles!
I worked with Mauricio a bunch of times. He always brings excellence to the table. If you are looking for a top liner bassist, well.... you found it. I recommend him 100%.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Bass lines for a r&b band called Yogurt. I felt that session was magical.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I believe both can offer great benefits. If you like the sound of it, go for it!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'll always put the music first.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you do this? Yes!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Great equipment is no substitute for great ears.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been performing and recording with great artists for 20 years.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Artists who have a heartfelt statement to give.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I'm an empathic musician, I've always been able to understand others. That makes me find the best bass line for the song quickly.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: All the necessary to give me a clear idea of what they are expecting. Communication is the key.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be sure you are beeing heard by the people you hired. Be open to new ideas, but don't be afraid to just state what you'd like for the song.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Clear your mind before listening. Pay attention to details and be true to the music.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Groove, musicality...and specially love for music and the recording process. I try to serve the song and make the other players sound at their best through my bass lines.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually get an audio file and a chord chart (if needed) first. Then I ask client's what they would like on the track. In case they need it, I'm always happy to make a bass part and give them some options. I will then record the bass, listen back, see what works and what doesn't, and record again...Clients get the audio files so they can blend them into the song. If they ask me to, I can send more than one take so they can choose the one they like the most. I will then do the edits or re-recordings they need in order to make them feel happy about the music!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: From jazz legends to Prince...I look for inspiration in many different styles of music.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My upright bass, a bow, some notebooks, pencils and a Steinway Grand Piano!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I like simple but groovy bass lines, simple but deep and inspirational music.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mostly jazz, improvised music, r&b, funk, some classical...
