My secret weapon is being able to align with an artist's particular vision for his or her music, whether it be for mixing, mastering or full-production. Me: I produce (write, record, mix, master, etc), manage & consult for artists such as yourself as Dugan Productions Co-Owner & C.E.O. of Recording & Production College, KMGLife Inc.

What I offer:

- Full Music Production (and ghost production)
- Mixing
- Mastering
- Mix & Master Packages
- Custom or Pre-Made Beats/Backing Tracks (usually Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, EDM & Indie)
- Professionally recorded Live Drums tracks for your songs
- Vocal Editing & Comping
- Vocal Tuning (melodyne)

I do all of the above for a living locally, as well as run a school that teaches all of the above. I am seeking to expand my clientele with virtual/remote work and would love the opportunity to work with you and show you of what I am capable!

I primarily employ Hybrid Mixing for my projects, and have a large quantity of analog gear and plug-ins to choose from depending on the sound we are looking for. I always deliver my best work, no matter the size and scope of the project.

I am available for Phone & Zoom calls to discuss project details.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Drew is an extremely talented and knowledgeable engineer/producer. He also plays numerous instruments and understands music theory thoroughly. Drew is both patient and understanding, which are rare attributes for an engineer. I would highly recommend him for any music production or engineering related tasks.

Drew has been helping me produce my album and has provided SICK drum tracks on four original tunes. All of the collaborators (including a New York based Broadway collaborative pianist) have heard his work and immediately wanted to know who was on the kit. So polished, so pro and incredibly clean. I also had the privilege of learning ProTools from Drew at KMG and can’t say enough about that comprehensive, immersive & enriching program. He has many skills and his optimism and mindset are a breath of fresh air. Can’t wait to finish this project with Drew and hire him again for the next one.

Drew helped me on the production, mixing, and mastering of a set of two singles and a three track EP. Drew is knowledgeable in engineering, but he is also well versed in music theory, making communication with him as a musician very straight forward. If you are looking for a local, well rounded professional to bring your music to the next level, this is it.

I've been working with Drew for my album "The Habibi State", and the skill he has brought to the project is truly untouched. He is a determined, open-minded, and talented individual. If you're looking for someone who will truly work on your songs as hard as you do, this is the guy. The beats he comes up with as well are phenomenal, and unique for sure. Bella beats kills it truly.

I typically don't write reviews, but I was blown away by the work that Drew has done. It doesn't matter the genre, he has the ear to make any song sound great. In addition, he is extremely professional and punctual (typically getting my songs back to me same day). I would highly recommend working with him!

Interview with Dugan Productions

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I just finished a song called Clementine as Executive Producer. It is yet to be released but is truly magical.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Right now I am working on a 3 song EP with a client as his producer. Our timeline is 3 months and we are currently in month 3. It has been a very extensive process. I have created the full music production for the pieces based solely on his rough guitar and vocals. I then record and mix everything with him as well and will be moving to mastering soon. There has been a lot of coaching and artist development involved in the process as well. The songs are sounding great, very excited!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Yes! Tyler Spratt is also a great mix engineer. If for some reason we don’t see eye to eye, I will refer you to him!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: BOTH. You can’t do on or the other nowadays. My set up is hybrid all the way and there’s no better way.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise is to deliver at a high, industry-standard level while being courteous, fair and respectful.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love when a customer is overjoyed with the end result. It’s pretty amazing what we can accomplish together.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: A common question is “what do you think,” after I’ve turned in deliverables. My answer is that “my mix (or production) is what I think.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Most people truly don’t understand what a “producer” is. A producer is more than someone that makes beats. A producer finds and solidifies the vision, manages expectations, hires personnel, manages the budget, manages the timeline, and directs creativity. Someone making beats on a laptop is a much different kind of “producer.”

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: - what is your plan with this music? - what are some reference songs? - discuss expectations on both sides - how will you be releasing this, if you are releasing? - what vibe or color are we going for?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: First step id reccomend is hopping on a phone call or zoom call with him or her. Make sure the vibe is right before moving on.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Great question. Lots of variables here. Does a computer count as one piece of gear? Anyway… 1. API 2448 2. Moog One 3. Gretsch Catalina Club Set 4. BURL Converters 5. Neumann Monitors I think I’d be pretty set ;)

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I began playing the drums at age 3 and eventually went on to tour with some local bands. I attended the University of Denver for Jazz Drumset and then attended school for Engineering at KMGLife, Inc.; I am now co-owner of this school and have developed a large roster of artists that I help with mixing, production, drumming and mastering.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is “down & dirty.” I will absolutely do whatever it takes to achieve the vision.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would absolutely love to work with Dua Lipa from a production standpoint. From a drumming and mix standpoint, I would love to work with Snarky Puppy!

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: One music production tip is to “keep the macro in mind.” It’s so easy to get caught up on a relatively minor detail and in doing so lose the overall picture of where you’re going.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Lately it has been a lot of Pop, EDM & Hip-Hop.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is being able to clearly see the final destination for a piece of music. I can hear in my head what it WILL sound like, and then know a near unlimited number of ways to get it there.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I have a strong background in a large variety of genres. This helps me be able to understand what a song needs (or doesn’t need), regardless of its particular niche.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: The first step is to align with an artist on his or her vision. This step is obviously also the most important. The next step will be organization on my end of files. Then, I will seek references for both mixing and production, also a crucial step to the puzzle. Then it’s a matter of finding the right pieces to finish said puzzle. This will include a lot of trial & error. The time it takes to get to the destination (finished product) doesnt matter. All that matters is getting the material to the highest level possible.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My studio set up is top-notch. I have invested well over $100k into my gear so that I have the tools to help achieve the best possible sound for clients. Starting with an Avid HDX system and multiple MTRX interfaces, I also have many flavors of outboard gear, from API to Elysia and SSL. I use Neumann monitors and have a number of Moog synths.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I am inspired by Rick Rubin & Quincy Jones. Where I shine most is as a full producer of an artist’s music.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Most commonly I perform mixing & mastering for clients, followed by full production.

  • Onto the 3rd Song w/ artist Conner!Aug 16, 2021

My lovely client Conner and I have moved on to our 3rd song of our 3-song project we began a few months prior. Everything is going smoothly! It is his first full production project (as opposed to simply using an engineer in a random studio, he has hired me as his executive producer) and the growth he has exhibited has been PHENOMENAL! I can't wait to help him release these songs!
