Beth Faria, also known as Lumynesynth, is a writer and producer specializing in electronic music. She is an established songwriter and vocal producer with releases on Monstercat, Colorize, When We Dip, and several other notable Progressive and Organic House record labels. She has a degree from Berklee College of Music in Contemporary Writing and Production, with a focus in Writing, Recording Engineering, and Production for Vocalists. Beth's roots in production come from a cappella and musical theatre, following years of working with countless vocal-based groups in the Greater Boston and Los Angeles areas, and a production apprenticeship with the award-winning a cappella production house, The Vocal Company. She has since worked with artists in a wide range of genres from Organic and Progressive House, Indie Singer-Songwriter, Rock, Pop, Country, and Film/Library music. Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I've got a few exciting tracks in the works with great producers and even better friends like Hausman, Discognition, Into The Ether, Nourey, Kaiyan, Elevven, and many more!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Hausman! He's incredible to work with, and I've never had a better production/DJ tutor, mix engineer, or mastering engineer. He's always really efficient, responsive, and takes feedback very well.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That all I do is sing! There's so much more to it than that. I have a degree in Music Production, and a lot of what I do is on the recording engineering/production side of things. I spend just as much time in ProTools and Melodyne as I do writing and singing.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I always like to know the backstory of a track I'm writing for! Even if it's a specific story, a vague emotion, or just a chord that felt inspiring, it's always helpful to know where the track is coming from. I also ask if there are any vocal reference tracks in mind. I like to put my own style into every track, but having a baseline for the general vibe helps kickstart the song.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop, iLok, Scarlett 18i8, SM7B, and Akai MPK49 MIDI keyboard!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been singing my whole life, and have a degree from Berklee College of Music in Contemporary Writing and Production. I've got years of experience under my belt, but am always learning new things and growing as a musician and producer.

A: Lush, chilled-out, emotional vocals

A: Madeon! His vocal production and creativity is truly next-level.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Electronic Music, usually House, as well as a cappella, choral, and vocal-based music.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I've got a few different mics I use to record. My go-to's are my SM7B, AKG P220, and Bluebird SL. I've got a cute little studio set up in my apartment and record through my Scarlett interface into ProTools.
