Starting this project was a great new adventure, combining music and poetry was something we both had never done before. Right from the start Jochem was full of enthousiasm, creativity, and professionalism. This created a real good atmosphere to create in, and a safe space for me to share my personal work. He was always very responsive to feedback. The outcome was above my expectations, the music supports my poetry beautifully and brings it to another level. The production is of great quality.

Working with Jochem was a joy and a privilege! Truly an outstanding musician, guitarist, and producer on all accounts...and an equally outstanding gentleman. He exhibits the kind of professionalism that one comes to appreciate when working at the top of the game. Truly an excellent experience. Highly, highly recommended!!!
Jochem is super talented and professional in so many ways, great musical contributions, really improved my music, and he has also been a huge help in getting me up to speed with how the music industry works. Communication with Jochem is great, he’s incredibly helpful and patient and reliable. But most importantly; it’s a pleasure working together with him and the final result was a track that I’m super pleased with!
Jochem is great to work with: he doesn't stop until the project has reached its full potential and the people he's working with are pleased with the result. It's easy to communicate with him, you can't say that about every producer, so that definitely is a huge plus for collaborating with Jochem.
We recorded a few covers together, where I did the singing and lyrics and Jochem produced and mixed the songs. I'd definitely recommend him.
Jochem is honestly very comfortable to work with: he listens to your vision and adds his own vision to it as well. This creates a perfect end result for all the parties involved. Thank you Jochem for working on our song!
Interview with Jochem Broersen
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I was involved in te creation of an album about depression. I co-write the music, produced the music and mixed the tracks.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on helping a few customers releasing their music and working on new original rock and country songs.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Q: How do we start? A: By you telling me what your song sounds like in your head, what other songs/artists would be in a playlist with your track?
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How would you describe the song/end product once it is finished to your satisfaction?
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Modern, with a touch of old skool sound. But mostly I focus on the customers need instead of stamping my style on your work.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: The Pretty Reckless, would be awesome work with Taylor, her voice is amazing and I love the direction of the band.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will be dedicated to giving you wat you want by listing to your wishes and keeping you in the loop along the way!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Working on different projects and with many creative people.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The idea that a producer is the same as a beatmaker.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look at the personal click more than the music. Check out online presences and see if you feel a connection. The music on the profile is just what people are working on atm. Most producers can create whatever you want :).
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A Telecaster, a solar powered power source, a laptop, and a mobile interface and microphone I guess...
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been making music and recording for around 20 years
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Rich DaSilva, an excelent drummer!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both have their place. I think analog can create beautiful warmth, but digital can be way more efficient en reliable.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Disable tracks to see if you feel it is missing and don't be afraid to kill your darlings if it makes the song better!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mostly work on rock, pop, or modern country songs. Next to that, I also have worked on Spoken Word records.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Communication and I love taking you along for the ride and explaining everything you want or need to know.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring 35 years of musical knowledge to your song. I can help you figure out with works together, what might conflict and what might be missing or what could be too much. You'll have a true partner, working together on your vision, instead of a black box.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First I like to get to know a bit more about the project; what inspired you while writing the song. What is your vision for the song and do you have references. Next, we'll discuss what you want me to help you with and what you see as the end result. After that I'll get to work, keeping you in the loop at any level you feel comfortable with.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work from my home studio as well as from professional studios in the Netherlands such as Wisseloord Studios. At home, I use a Discrete 8 Synergy Core as my main interface and Kemper for a lot of the guitar work. I work in Ableton as well as in Pro Tools.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm a huge fan of producers such as Rick Ruben, who strive for getting the best out of musicians without leaving a hearable stamp on their tracks!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly work on production and/or mixing projects.

Worked on loads of great stuff lately; the debut of alt-pop artist Emmalyne, a pop tune by Prodales reached 20K streams on YouTube and loads more!
- Bedut single CloesterMar 26, 2022
Recently I finished the production and mix of the debut track of Cloester; a young and talented rock guitarist. The track is a combination of the old-school Brian May sound (think back to the Sheer Heart Attack album) and the more modern sound of Joe Satriani. We recorded the guitar tracks from my home studio and the drums where played remotely.
- Finsihed Spoken Word albumMar 01, 2022
I'm very honored to have been asked as a songwriter, producer, and mix engineer for the Spoken Work album of Myrthe Nauta. The album tells the story about living with depression; from the subject's viewpoint as well as the viewpoint of the ones living with someone who is dealing with depression. The album will be released on the 31st of March!
