Interview with Michael Kondakow
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I like big sounds, five part harmonies and dirty synths.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is more, but somtimes more is awesome.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mostly Pop and Pop / Rock.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill would have to be my ability to hear catchy parts in songs and expand on them.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring an open mindedness and a willingness to try new things, as well as push the boundaries of your track until it reaches its full potential.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to get to know the artist first, see what they are into music wise and why they are wanting to make music. Sometimes in a session we just chat about topics and listen to artists we like. I feel the artist needs to feel they are in a place where they can express themselves without feeling judged which can take some time. Making music should be fun even though it can be alot of work, I try and always keep it fun and give the artist the best experience I can.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a home studio with a vocal booth, it sounds great for recording vocals which is what I primarliy focus on.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I really like whats happening in the synthwave scene, I'm starting to see songs with vocals which is brining the genre into a whole new area.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I would have to say production and lyrics.
