Tim Whelan on SoundBetter

Producer, programmer, mixer, editor, performer. Member of Transglobal Underground. I work in Logic and Ableton mixing tracks for artists, editing, tuning and comping vocal takes. Anything from a basic cleaning up to a full mix or new arrangement.

My main background has been in mixing beats with traditional music from around the world, but I've worked in rock, reggae, funk, bellydance, electronica, bhangra..you name it.
Born in London, I've also lived in Paris. Main artists: Furniture (1980s) Transglobal Underground, Natacha Atlas. Transglobal Underground have had hits across Europe and a top 40 album in the UK. With Natacha Atlas I co-produced her hit single 'Mon Amie La Rose.' I've also worked with Page and Plant, Hakim, Transmitters, Sofiane Saidi and numerous others.
I work mainly in my home studio now and have done most of the work on Transglobal Underground's recent albums there, including the BBC Radio award winning album 'Moonshout,' I have recently worked on Transglobal Underground's new album 'Walls Have Ears' and projects by Modern Humans, Nawel Ben Kraïem, and Esbe. I've also, mainly using Ableton, designed live sound systems for using backing tracks as an organic part of an artist's live setup.
The way we all work music now, working across time zones and distances, has all sorts of collaborative possibilities and I don't see my role as being to take charge of the process. I sometimes just help with editing and tidying recordings up, sometimes rearrange and mix myself...it all depends on what your own vision is. I'm looking forward to help move it on.
