Interview with Stéphane MONTIGNY
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: If you place the mic in front of the center of the horn bell you'll catch the tongue's sounds. You would like it for a smooth jazz session with a lot of air in the sound. But for a cleaner and warmer sound for pop of a powerful horn section it's better to place the mic aligned with the curve of the bell.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: In my home studio I use a AKG C414 XLS mic, a Summit Audio 2BA-221 preamp, and a SSL 2+ audio interface. My DAW is a professional Protools.
