Fantastic String Arrangements

Hi! I am an expert violinist and violist with 35 years performance experience in settings ranging from classical symphonies to experimental chamber music to improvising with electronic DJs. I have played numerous string sessions in The Studio of Larry Gold for R&B, rock and pop music. For the last 15 years I have also composed my own music.

I would like to bring the many exciting sound colors of stringed instruments into your mix in a way that will enhance your music. Strings are capable of much more than many people realize. We can make many different kinds of tone and articulation from very smooth and gentle to choppy and aggressive to spooky and otherworldly.

I can offer these services:
Composing a string arrangement to go with your song or mix.
Playing and recording an arrangement or piece you have written.
Transcribing music from your recorded track to make a written string arrangement score.
Recording all the string parts, either with acoustic instruments and microphones or with electric instruments and electronic effects.
Composing and recording music for your film or video.

I play violin, viola, electric violin and electric viola, and bowed chinese harp (gu zheng.) I also have an octave pedal and many effects to extend the range and sound palette of my instruments.

I have the equipment and skills to record many types of string parts myself, although if a session needs a real cellist or double bassist I know whom to call. For some projects I could use my extra-low-range viola with an octave pedal to cover low parts. It sounds like and electric cello.
