Interview with Vic
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I loved working with Tee Grizzley on his upcoming project. 3 years ago i said i would one day be in the studio with him. I spoke that into existence and it happened. Im really proud of working with him because i looked up to him and he inspired me so when i got the chance to work with him it was a life changing experience.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment i am working on my own project set to be released later this year.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital because you can switch to anolog on some plugins as oppose to analog you cant switch to digital.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will give the time and effort to each project i get and do the most to make sure its the best work i can provide my clients so that they are 100 percent satisfied.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love hearing how others express them selves through music. Everyone has a story to tell and i love hearing all the different perspectives people have. Music allows me to sympathize with peoples emotions in their music.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Im not big on beat productions. I mainly engineer and mix engineer.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Is there a specific song or sound you want me to bring out in your song? can you provide me with a reference track?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Im the right guy for the job!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: my macbook pro, a mic, some headphones, pro tools, and an interface
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing this job for about 5 years now. I started goin to school at LAFS graduated with an engineering degree and a BA in Entertainment Business. I started as an intern at a recording studio in Studio City, CA then i got hired as an engineer/mix engineer at a different recording studio once my intership was over.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to work with Lil Wayne and Eminem. Those 2 are the reason i got into music. Lil Wayne thought me how to rap using metaphors and punchlines and how to write clever lyrics. Eminem taught me to be myself and say how i feel in my music regardless of outside opinions.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Start with the melody and then bring in the drums.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on Hip-Hop/rap and pop music
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is working with lil baby type vocals and auto tune.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring the bounce to the record. I make it pop. Give the vocals some shine and the beat some bigger vibes to make the record sound A1.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have 3 sets of speakers, for better mixing and sound, i got 2 raven screens, all Waves and UAD plugins, 1073 amp, Pro tools.

A: Lil Wayne
