Andrew Toy is a professional drummer/percussionist based in the Washington DC area who has built a reputation as a dependable and creative drummer who is hard-working and easy to work with. His timekeeping and feel are solid and his drumming has a more eclectic and experimental bent when called upon.

I'm a full-time drummer and percussionist and always excited to hear other people's ideas and to help bring their visions to life regardless of style. I am experience at recording

+ drum kit (modern, vintage, and everything in between)
+ electronic/experimental sounds
+ auxiliary percussion (shaker, tambourine, chimes, etc)
+ ethnic percussion (djembe, doumbek, cajon, bodhran, kalimba, and others)
+ mallet percussion (vibraphone, glockenspiel)

For most of my adult life I have been using the drumming skills that I started acquiring as a child to build a rewarding music career. My life as a drummer has taken on many forms: international touring, recording sessions, teaching, and sideman to a diverse roster of artists.

More and more I find myself being called on to record from my home studio. Due to the flexibility and convenience of this approach, as opposed to a traditional recoding studio, I am able to offer very reasonable rates and quick turn-around times. As a sideman, both on stage and in the studio, I am used to learning a wide variety of music on short notice. Sometimes I am asked to replace a track or play a very specific part while other times I am asked to put my own personal mark on a project.
