Dean Martin, Elvis, Buddy Holly. I'm a Berklee Grad who's worked with multiple Grammy and Oscar winning composers. You can hear my voice on Netflix, Disney, MTV, BBC Radio 1, and hundreds of ad campaigns worldwide. A defining moment in my career was getting to sing in the same studio as Frank Sinatra at Capitol Records Studio A.
If you're looking for that vintage sound, you've found it. Andrew provides top-level vocals from his London based recording studio. His studio is equipped with multiple microphones including a ribbon mic - for that classic, buttery crooner sound, API preamps, Apogee converters, and hundreds of plug-ins to make sure he delivers the flavors you're looking for.
Andrew has studied vocal performance at Berklee College of Music where he was the recipient of the World Tour Scholarship. He is well versed in all styles and genres of music but has a passion for Jazz. Available for hire to record lead vocals and/or harmonies, as well as vocal tuning and comping, Top Line/Lyric writing.

It was an absolute pleasure working on this song with Andrew! A+ singing, recording quality, and professionalism. I can’t wait to work on another project together in the future.

Andrew is a superb vocalist who internalized my song and delivered exactly what I needed! Highly recommended.

If you have a good guide vocal laid down on a song, the singer you hire needs to be to match that or better.
Andrew always comes back with vocals that are so good, I forget about the scratch vocal, I can't even remember it.
He is a pro skill wise but just brings a level of magic to every thing we have worked on and that is why I keep working with him.
Check him out for yourself, he is very easy to work with too.

Andrew is truly a versatile singer. He took this new song, gave it the perfect tone and attitude, and his timing was so spot on. The song is a rock/waltz/ballad in honor of Lou Reed and Andrew made it a dream.

Andrew's talent is truly special. No matter how challenging or unusual the project, he delivers pure quality — first time and every time!
I can't recommend him highly enough! - check_circleVerified
The ultimate professional! Your project becomes his project and he works to get it just right for you. I highly recommend this individual, not just for his fantastic vocals but also for his work ethic! He worked within my budget, continually keeping my project parameters in mind and always touching base to be sure we were on the same page. He finished the project well before the deadline, too. A positive experience from beginning to end! You won’t be disappointed.

One of the most moving experiences on soundbetter. Having a great vocalist do my christmas tune "Hey Mr. Santa" in perfect pitch, supreme audio quality, no smacks, no exaggerated breathing, just ready to mix.
That is the one side. The other side is his genuine, tasteful art of singing, in just a moment integrating my suggestions, balancing between the reasonable and the tasteful artist´s view. I am nothing but thankful to have such a great vocalist do my song. Besides: extremely nice person! - check_circleVerified
When Andrew and I collaborate together to work on projects for my clients, a lot of the time they call me back crying after hearing production with Andrew singing.
He brings years of skill to the table, but most of all he really cares about every project we work on.
The emotion that comes through his vocals is really magical and that's what music/collaboration is all about.
Beyond grateful for this guy and and excited to work on the next project with him.
On to the next...

Interview with Andrew DeLong
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Customer satisfaction is what I am most focused on. I want you to be happy and I want you to be proud of your project. If I didn't deliver the product you were looking for the first time I will work with you until we nail the exact vibe.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I sang background vocals for a song on Adam Lambert's Platinum selling album "For Your Entertainment". It was my first "big" LA gig. I was so proud, I felt like all my hard work finally paid off.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on a session for a corporate commercial. It's more of a film score type of vibe...a little different to what I'm used to but very fun.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I don't actually know this guy but, while I was searching SoundBetter's Singer Database, a guy named Brandon Ray really impressed me. He's got a soulful country sound that I love. If anyone needs a country singer....check him out.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog is of course renowned for its warmth/dimension...and NOTHING looks cooler than a full rack of gear... but digital is so convenient and it blows my mind how good it sounds now. I definitely use more digital these days but I still think I prefer the sound of Analog.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I get to work from home doing a job that I love. Life can't get any better.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Do you sing other styles other than Jazz? Why yes, I do. I'm actually a very accomplished pop/soul singer. I sing pretty much every style....I can even yodel.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: People outside of our industry often don't realize the amount of time, work, and education it takes to do what we do. I think the misconception can be that we do this for fun...which we do, but we are also trying to make this our livelihood.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What type of sound are you looking for? What singers voice closely resembles the sound you want?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Have a clear idea what type of sound you're looking for and even have a reference track on hand. This would help us so much in understanding your vision.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Telefunken U47, UA1176, LA2A, Lynx Aurora, iMac Pro.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Since graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2008 I've lived in Boston, LA, and London. I've done just about every job there is pertaining to music...and I also served at my fair share of restaurants. All of my experience has lead me here and I am so happy to be making music my full time profession.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Smooth and buttery.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: It would be cool to get a rat pack thing going with Michael Buble.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Take it easy on the EQ and Compression. A little goes a long way.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: The Crooner style of Jazz is definitely my bread and butter, but I am very good at pretty much all genres especially soul and pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Definitely my vocals...however, my recording engineer skills are pretty decent too.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I've worked hard to master the subtle nuances of Jazz singing. From the stylistic vibrato to the laid back phrasing. I've studied all greats (Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, etc.) and what it is that makes their voices so special. I am able to bring their styles and expertise to your projects.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually ask the client if they have a reference track for a sound that they are trying to achieve. Then, I do my homework and study the track. I'll then pick the right mic, and record a few takes. After I'm done recording, l comp all my vocals to create the best lead line and edit whatever needs editing.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I own a professional recording studio right outside of London. I own multiple mics including Neumann, Telefunken, and Rode. I run my mics through an API 3124+ which gets converted by Apogee converters. My room is professionally treated with primeacoustics so it sounds great.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by musicians who wear all-the-hats in the production process. It's one thing to just be a singer, it's more inspiring to me when someone can also play an instrument, record quality recordings, produce their own backgrounds, write their own songs, and be able to switch seamlessly between genres. That to me is the sign of a true musician.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I usually record session vocals, including lead, harmonies, and background vocals.
