I am a Chicago based Mix Engineer who specializes in pop, rock and electronic genres. As the guitar player for the pop/rock band We Are Leo, I have developed my production/engineering chops for over 8 years. Just finished up my second full production with Doug. The song came out amazing. He turned a demo of a good song into a radio ready great song. His hard work was evident in every second of the track.

Doug is the BOMB-DOT-COM. We're a mastering studio and we get tons of mixes in to work on. Doug is definitely one of our favorite mixers who sends us projects regularly. He not only makes everything sound good sonically, but he serves the song and does it justice. The whole point of what we do is to get people to WANT to play the song again after they hear it the first time. Doug will get people to do this, but many times over and over again. Don't second guess it. Hire him.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Most recently I did a remix for rock legend "Skillet" that was feature on a deluxe version of their album. My role was Producer, Remixer, and Mix Engineer.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will do whatever it take to make sure you're extremely satisfied with your mix/master. If my clients aren't shocked with how good the first mix sounds, I feel like I haven't done my job.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love taking something raw and making it into something polished and radio quality. It's extremely satisfying and rewarding!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Do you do alternate versions such as instrumentals, edited versions, track stems, performance tracks? Of course I do! And it's included in the price of the mix;)
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What commercial reference would you like your song to match? Every song is different but it helps to have references for clear communication and mutual understanding of the sound that we're aiming for.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Never hesitate to ask questions about the process. There are no dumb questions. I'm happy to arm my clients with as much knowledge as I can.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've played in bands and started touring right out of high school. This allowed me to learn production and mixing from veteran engineers as I was going through the recording process with the bands I was in. I've been in music production for just shy of 10 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Modern top 40 radio sound for the most part. Although, I also love getting down and dirty with more indie sounding stuff when the mix calls for it.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Try to get the best possible performance, quality and consistency in the tracking process because that allows for the best possible final mix. I know it's not always possible, but it's a great thing to keep in mind during the recording process. "Fix it in the mix" should be a last resort.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is my production background in the mixing process. I often augment drum sounds with samples and even add production elements to my mixes to make sure they're top notch.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work and my favorite work is mixing. I love taking raw tracks and turning them into a polished, radio ready work of art.
