Interview with Lorenzo Bertelloni

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work mostly on pop/rock music but in the last few years also soundtracks with symphonic orchestra, both studio or live.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: In 2014 and 2015 I played as a side keyboardist for the first two editions of Celebrity Fight Night - Italy. David Foster was pianist and musical director of the shows that featured guests as: Andrea Bocelli, John Legend, Lionel Richie, Leona Lewis, Reba McEntire and many others.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What artist/band are your inspiration? What sound would you like to achieve?
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been playing since 1994 (i was 9 years old). I’m a professional since 2004 but I’m still studying.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I can span between a lot of styles. I studied classical music as a kid, played pop/rock with international artists and got a degree in Jazz Piano.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My main job is recording piano and keyboards for singers/songwriters and producers. In the past few years I've had various experiences in scoring for symphonic orchestras. On the live side of the job I am a musical director and pianist/keyboardist/programmer.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I think that the important things is understanding what the client is asking from you (the style, the feeling, ecc.).
