I play classical (7-string), acoustic & Portuguese guitar (traditional instrument). Flamenco/Classical/Latin American/Pop/Fado. Winner of the European Guitar Award 2021. Touring solo and with famous Portuguese artists, Ana Moura. Experienced in the studio and now focusing on session work. Would love to help you have the guitar that fits your needs
I'm a guitarist, composer, arranger and producer from Lisbon. Have been playing mostly World Music for the last 10 years with a focus on Fado, Flamenco, Brazilian and Argentinian music. Have been a touring musician with a lot of big Portuguese artists, like Ana Moura, Cuca Roseta, and also with my solo project, having already played in over 40 countries.
Studied Classical, Jazz and World, and have been part of some guitar and composition competitions, like the European Guitar Award 2021, where I was one of the winners.
Have 3 solo albums released, where I always produced and arranged everything. My last EP includes a collaboration with guitar legend Yamandu Costa.
I have also recorded in a lot of albums from Portuguese and Brazilian artists and composed a number of songs for different artists.
With the studio experience I've gathered, I've learned some tricks about recording my guitars with the best sound achievable.
I also have top notch instruments, with a 7-string Classical guitar by famous Luthier Stefan Nitschke, an amazing Lowden acoustic guitar and a traditional Portuguese guitar, if you're looking for a more ethnic or out of the box sound.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Phenomenal Classical Guitarist who can deliver an astonishing expressive line. Manel interpreted a written line I gave him for classical guitar and really delivered a highly expressive and soulful interpretation of this. I am extremely pleased and would love to work with him again in the future. He really understands the music being played and does the very best to suit the music. Highly recommended!
Interview with Manel Ferreira
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Fado, Flamenco, Classical, Jazz, Brazilian (Latin American in general), Pop.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I think I have a very personal 'brand' and language on any of the instruments I play and that can be felt. But over the years I've also learned to adapt to the specific needs and language the artist/client needs, and be more flexible.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have an isolated studio booth at home, where I record with two LineAudio CM4 mics (which I love!), through a RME Babyface Pro Interface, with Logic Pro X or Pro Tools. I have three top notch instruments, each worth over 3500$- a Lowden O22, a 7 string classical guitar by Stefan Nitschke, and a Portuguese guitar, by the best guitar builder in Portugal, Oscar Cardoso.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Melodic and creative.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I'm very versatile though I am specialised in a few things. I think I have a distinctive sound that will make the guitars in your track automatically recognizable. As a composer I think writing beautiful melodies is my strongest point.
