Ruca is a seasoned session musician and producer. I worked a lot with him in the recording of many projects. He has the ability to orchestrate percussion parts that mengle well in any mix. Moreover, he's also a great performer live. He combines top musicianship with a talent to communicate with expressiveness.

I met Ruca 6 years ago when I embarked ,as an American Flutist, on a project to record Portuguese music. He was so welcoming, supportive and taught me so much about this great music. He can do it all as a terrific percussionist, has great knowledge about audio engineering and has creative ideas about sharing and making the music come to life. And after all that I love that I can call him a dear friend who will always be there when you need him.

I have worked with Ruca regularly since 2015 in live performances and recording studios in Portugal, New York City and in New Hampshire (USA). Ruca is without question one of the finest, most versatile and creative percussionists and musicians on the planet.

He is a magician. His versatility is extraordinary whether playing World music, jazz, classical or folk. He understands exactly what is needed and always seems to add a special nuance to the music using hand percussion, the kit, berimbau or vocalese with taste and precision. Ruca is simply FIRST CALL AND FIRST CLASS.

Ruca is an incredibly eclectic musician, who adapts naturally and quickly to any musical genre, offering absolutely creative solutions, taking the music he's playing to another level. Whenever we worked together, Ruca was always careful to create spaces for the other musicians with whom he played, while inspiring them and driving the final group sound.
