Mark Hunter

Electric Bass & Upright Bass

Mark Hunter on SoundBetter

Professional bassist located in Seattle, WA. Having studied a wide variety of music, I am always eager to show my versatility in the studio and on the road. I specialize in pop, folk, funk, jazz, blues, R&B/Soul and avant garde. I take pride in my musicality and will deliver high quality tracks for your songs.

I grew up playing jazz in the community starting at the age of 15. Since then I've been able to perform and study with some of the greatest musicians out there today, including Bill Frisell, Cuong Vu and Ted Poor.

In addition to my rigorous studies, I have years of experience in recording and touring. My current project, The Dip, has recorded multiple albums at our private studio using our own tape gear. In the last couple years we've been able to tour around the US, Europe and Japan sharing our music with a growing audience. Two other groups that I've been previously involved with include Beat Connection and indie folk band Poor Moon (featuring members of Fleet Foxes).

I always strive to create strong, unique bass lines for every song. Whether it's holding it down on the roots, playing melodically or grooving hard. My approach to every song is different to ensure I give the music the support or artistic attention it needs.

My equipment includes:

- Rickenbacker 4001 (1981)
- Rickenbacker 3001 (1977)
- German Upright Bass (1950's)
