Do you want to tell a story with your song? At the heart of my projects stands a deep love for genuine and heartfelt music. My productions join organic and synthesized elements together, with a melancholic and cinematic character. In the end it's about telling your story in the best way possible.
I will take your demo and transform it into a radio-ready, professionally mixed and mastered track.
Do you want to tell a story with your project? Is your song very close to you and are you looking for someone who can turn your demo into a heartfelt production? Do you feel your track needs a producer who has a unique feel for sound design and warm, analogue vibes?
I'm a professional music producer, mixing engineer, songwriter and guitarist from Amsterdam. I specialise in working with artists in the indie, pop and folk genres. Having worked in the music industry for over fourteen years I have written and produced for numerous artists. As a producer I am signed to BMG Benelux / Wisseloord Publishing. The majority of my sessions I have in the Wisseloord Studio's or at my own studio in Amsterdam.
I love to work on songs that tell a profound story. In the end, everything revolves around setting the stage for that narrative in the best way possible.
During my years of working in the music industry I have gathered a huge network of professional musicians I can call to help for a production if needed.

Ward is the best, period. We're now moving onto a 4th song and I couldn't be any happier with the service, communication, turn-around time, final product... really, everything. 10/10 as always.

I couldn't be any happier with this collaboration. This is my second song with Ward and I already feel like I've been working with him for years. I've worked alongside enough people to know that finding someone like him is a 1/1,000,000 chance. Kind, communicative, friendly, intelligent, honest, knowledgable, intuitive, creative, and EXTREMELY talented. I hope to continue collaborating again and again and again.

I had a great experience working with Ward. He was friendly and clearly communicated his needs for the project. The revision process was a breeze, thanks to Ward's detailed notes. His feedback was positive and easy to understand. All in all, he made my job easy, and I hope to work with him again!
Ward is such an amazing musician, songwriter and producer to work with! I've worked with him on several projects and continue to work with him now. He is very talented and thoughtful, always making sure he's understood your ideas so he can best bring them to life, and also adding his own flair to tracks that you might not have thought of! He is enthusiastic and participates in the creativity from start to finish - from writing to recording and producing then mixing - Ward's the man!
Great to work with Ward! He's a good listener for me as an artist. The sounds/vibes I want for the tracks, Ward can create it fast and just the way I like. Apart from that he's a great musician as well. And you can always laugh with him!:)
Amazing to work with this guy! Always took the time to get to the full potential of the song and to find the right identity in each production. I love how he’s not afraid to reconsider choices or new ideas I had throughout the process. It’s a breath of fresh air to work with someone who always replies quickly and communicates this well.
He has a great ear for harmonies, he’s a real musician and I definitely would recommend recording the vocals with him too.
Overall a great producer, great communication and musician.Ward is an incredible producer. I worked with him on several tracks. He manages to create exactly the right vibe and sounds a track needs.
Interview with Ward Reijmerink
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Let me know all the ideas and thoughts you have. Communication is important, so I like to have clear idea of your vision.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have two conservatory degrees in both classical guitar and music theatre. After that I studied music production at the Wisseloord Academy at the Wisseloord Studio's. I have been working full time as a musician for over 17 years. Over the past few years my career started leaning more and more towards music production and session work.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would describe my style as warm and emotional.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Musicality, a good set of ears and a really strong sense of emotion.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Most of my productions start with a session in the studio or online. During the session we don't only work on the song, but I mostly like to talk to the artist about the song and their artist project, to hear what their feeling or vision about the track is, and if they have references they like. At the end of the session I will bounce you a version of the track so far. After that day I will start finishing the song. I will then send you a version that gets us 80% there, so you can have an idea of the direction I am going in. After your approval I start working on the details. If you were to hire me as a mixing engineer I also love to hear your inspirations, references and thoughts you have. Anything that might deepen my understanding of your artist project. After about a week I will send you the full mix to hear your feedback.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I can find so much joy in musicians who follow their own path to create something meaningful for themselves rather than focusing on what the audience might think. A few artists I love are CATT, Thomas Azier, Marcus Mumford and Ethan Gruska.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am producing the next album of Dutch artist Leonie Meijer. It's a project where we are constantly pushing each others boundaries to create a creative and inspiring new world for her songs.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What does the track mean to you? What story do you want to tell? Which elements matter most to you? Which artists inspire you and why? Do you have any reference tracks you like?
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work from my studio in Amsterdam. I do most of my sessions and recordings there. For bigger projects I will usually work in one of the biggest studio's of the Netherlands: the Wisseloord Studio's.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Davide Ruffini is an amazing mixing and mastering engineer.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I live and breathe music, I wouldn't know what to do else.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: The story matters most! Use everything in your ability to support it.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on productions with lots of organic elements and live instruments.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I like to talk to talk to new clients about the world they want to create for their music.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A genuine feeling for the soul of the song. I always look for character and story. With a very strong sense of style and direction, I can easily dissect the essence of a song and decide which way I need to go.
