Nikolina Janevska is a Macedonian mezzo-soprano based it Milan and soloist at the National Opera in Skopje since 2012. She began her musical training at the age of seven and earned a degree in vocal performance from the University Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje. Her international career includes performances at Teatro Petruzzelli (Bari), Teatro Goldoni (Livorno), Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Luglio Musicale Trapanese, Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Teatro Coccia (Novara), and major theaters across China. She debuted at the Sofia Opera and Ballet and will next appear at Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania. Her repertoire includes Carmen, Dorabella, Olga, Nicklausse, and Adalgisa.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I can only do operatic vocals
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I always ask them to give me as many details as possible. How much vibrato, how much strength they want in the voice. What kind of emotion.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing this since I was 7 years old.

A: classical music, opera

A: the pitch and the color of my voice
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have quite a rich-colored voice and also a perfect pitch in the singing. My rhythm is also impeccable, so no adjustments should be done after I give you the product
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Well, I am a professionally trained musician. So if I have sheet music for the job or a track with the melody with a metronome I can record immediately.

A: I have a Zoom H1n recorder
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of the time I do operatic vocals or Celtic vocals. But I can do pretty much anything. I am also really good at doing harmony a choir-like effect or just back up singing.
