Another great drumming performance. This one, I think, is my favorite yet. Absolutely filled with killer little extras and fills and things I never would have thought to put in there. Incredible job!!
Another amazing job! This is guy really nails the drums that I want. Very much recommend Jonas. He adds a huge amount to the songs
Another incredible job. Amazing drummer. Fast results too.
Jonas is very receptive to ideas on what your vision is. His recordings are very high quality and will result in a very professional set of drum tracks. He wants to have you happy with the results and if you listen to his tracks on here and you like those, his skill on your tracks will come through.
Jonas is an excellent drummer. He responds quick and is very friendly. It only took him a couple takes to get I wanted. I will definitely be using him again.
I am working with Jonas on several songs. He is an excellent communicator and has exceptional drumming ability. He listens and understands what I am looking for and makes it happen! I am very pleased with his work and would recommend him to others.
Jonas is a top notch drummer, very smart, easy to communicate with!!understanding music and how to record easy,, I was very worried at first he would not feel or get what we were trying to do but it has been almost to easy , what a pleasure!! Brian Zimmerman
It was really fun working with Jonas. Excellent drummer!!!
He was very easy to communicate with, and very professional.
Looking forward to do more stuff with him in the future.
Once again had a fantastic run on recording drums with Jonas! Cool drummer and even a cooler guy.
Highly recommend him
Man, did I have a great time working with Jonas! Not only is he nothing short of amazing drummer, who learns his parts fast like crazy and has his chops, but also he's one of the sweetest and easy going dudes. Can't wait to do some amazing stuff together again
What can I say? The music on the album is now completely finished and Jonas did an amazing job on all of it. The drumming is superb. His drumming will add a huge amount to the songs. Not only his playing but his creativity in doing so is incredible. Even outside of the actual songs, his handling of the "business bits" of it was great. The communication throughout, the demos, the putting our heads together and pushing through problems that arose, everything was excellent. My hat is off to you.
Jonas is a super professional drummer. I pretty much just gave him free reign to do whatever he wanted on my track and he delivered. Easy to talk to and discuss with about the project. Would definitely recommend and would work with again.
Jonas is first and foremost a great drummer, but also a superb communicator. He works quick and delivers great sounding drumtracks. Could not be more happy. Hire him!
Jonas is a talented drummer and composer, as well as a hard worker. His communication was great and detailed. He goes out of his way to make sure you are getting what you want. He also does a great job of mic-ing his drum kit which makes things easy on my end when it comes to mixing. Thanks again Jonas, you rock!
Very professional, highly professional and highly dedicated to delivering the most professional sounding tracks possible
Exactly what everyone wants from a session musician, A+ communication (which is essential when you're working over the net) and gets the job done. There's "session drummers", and then there's professional session drummers, and Jonas is the latter.
Jonas was the most ideal drummer I could have found for my album. He is immensely talented, professional and detail-oriented in his work ethic. He's able to stay true to what you wrote while also providing his own flare and creativity. Timely, responsive, patient and extremely polite to boot, he was a pleasure to work with and I fully recommend him!
Another great job. This song presented some new challenges and Jonas rose to them and produced another great set of tracks.
Another great drum track provided for one of my tunes :) And if we haven't learned this lesson before, we know it now: Backup, backup! Thunder storms and PC equipment do not go well together :P
Another great job. Very quick to change a couple of parts that I needed done. Great communication.
Yeah working with Germans is the way to go! :)
Seriously, though; Jonas delivers great drum performances and is easy to communicate with and follows and understands directions very well. Highly recommended!
It was amazing working with Jonas, he has very professional approach and the results match it! Both the playing and the sound of the drums are very high quality. Highly recommending him!
Another great job!
Another great job by Jonas. Very good communication throughout. Very recommended.
Jonas did an awesome job he went above and beyond to get what i wanted. Extremely friendly and hard working.
Awesome drummer. Very professional. Quick. Good guy. Excellent quality. Whats not to like? Definitely be working with him again.
Jonas is a true professional and an incredible player. I needed someone who can handle more technical metal parts, and at the same time play with feeling over more mellow parts. Jonas delivered hugely in both areas. Highly recommended!
Really like Jonas work. Great drummer and he gives a lot extra for me to use when editing. Also very fast witch is really appreciated.
Jonas did a great job, and really made the effort that was needed.
Jonas is an incredible drummer with intense skills, great work.
Jonas is a real talent, a great communicator and is quick with delivery. He has a mastery of drumming that is intense.
Great tracks for my death metal outfit! Really really flexible. Not a question as to who I will work with again! Thanks Jonas
I think there's no need to express how much Jonas is talented. All you need is just watch his videos and you'll be highly impressed! My first experience of collaboration with him went fantastic and I'm pretty sure that he is my number one choice for my future projects.
Jonas takes great pride in his recordings and wants to deliver the best take possible. He works until the customer is happy. I recorded our band's latest album with him being our drummer and he really delivers.
Interview with Jonas Schütz
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise to my clients is my professional work mentality. I want you to be happy with the product I want to make for you and I don't have any shortcuts!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like the creative aspect that comes with everything music related! It's also absolutely awesome for me to be able to do the thing I love most and make a living from it!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: "Recording drums doesn't take time, it's super easy and super cheap." It takes a lot of time to master the instrument so that you are able to record something for clients from all around the world. It also takes a lot of equipment (like microphones etc.) to make the drums sound as good as possible, so it's not cheap.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I'd love to work with the above-mentioned Adam "Nolly" Getgood to get some more insights on how he works and to get some tips and tricks for recording and mixing.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Explain your project as detailed as possible right from the start, as it will make the process of recording and writing drum parts a lot faster and stress-free for both sides.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: For recordings I'm using two Focusrite Firewire interfaces (Liquid 56 as main, Saffire Pro 40 as slave for 8 additional channels) that go straight into my custom built PC running Windows 7 Ultimate and Cubase Pro 8. The PC has got 32GB of RAM, an Intel Core i7 running at 3,7 GHz, 3TB harddrive and a 256GB SSD built into it.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment I'm working on several new Youtube-videos and content for my channel in general.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I'd take my 6-piece Tama drumkit...wait...
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Never do 'fix it in the mix'. Get it right at the source!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I play many styles of music. Mostly, I play Metal, but I also love to play Blues, Jazz, Rock and Pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill would be my timing. I always try to play as precise and tight as possible.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring my own style of playing into a song, I always want to make the best out of every song. For me, music is life.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Typically I first write some drums to a song that I think fit the needs of a song. I always want to work for the song and the music. After the drums are written, I then proceed to record them at the best of my abilities. After all the recordings are finished, I send them to the client.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by guys like Adam "Nolly" Getgood of Periphery, Anup Sastry (ex-drummer for the Band Monuments) and Alex Rüdinger (drummer for bands such as Threat Signal, The Faceless, Conquering Dystopia)
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Tracking live drums, editing, cleaning and manual quantizing of the recorded tracks.
