I can record drums for many different genres! I love to play Metal music but of course I'm also able to play Rock, Pop, Blues and Jazz.
NOTE: I cannot play any Brutal Death Metal, Technical Death Metal, etc.!
If needed, I can write drum parts for your song but you also can give me your ideas for the song and I'll record them for you!
After everything has been discussed, I will record the drums and afterwards you'll get a high quality mp3 demo of your song including my drums. If you are happy with the result, I will send you all 18 individual tracks of the recorded drums.

DRUMS:
I'm using a Tama Warlord Bubinga kit,10"/12"/14"/16"/ Toms, 22x18" Kick and it's currently set up with a Tama Warlord 14"x6" Snare.
HEADS:
I'm using Evans drumheads, currently my kit is equipped with Evans EC2 clear batter heads and mostly G1 clear reso heads. On the Kick I have an Evans EMAD 2 clear.
CYMBALS:
I'm using all Meinl Cymbals.

Interview with Jonas Schütz
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise to my clients is my professional work mentality. I want you to be happy with the product I want to make for you and I don't have any shortcuts!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like the creative aspect that comes with everything music related! It's also absolutely awesome for me to be able to do the thing I love most and make a living from it!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: "Recording drums doesn't take time, it's super easy and super cheap." It takes a lot of time to master the instrument so that you are able to record something for clients from all around the world. It also takes a lot of equipment (like microphones etc.) to make the drums sound as good as possible, so it's not cheap.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I'd love to work with the above-mentioned Adam "Nolly" Getgood to get some more insights on how he works and to get some tips and tricks for recording and mixing.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Explain your project as detailed as possible right from the start, as it will make the process of recording and writing drum parts a lot faster and stress-free for both sides.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: For recordings I'm using two Focusrite Firewire interfaces (Liquid 56 as main, Saffire Pro 40 as slave for 8 additional channels) that go straight into my custom built PC running Windows 7 Ultimate and Cubase Pro 8. The PC has got 32GB of RAM, an Intel Core i7 running at 3,7 GHz, 3TB harddrive and a 256GB SSD built into it.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Typically I first write some drums to a song that I think fit the needs of a song. I always want to work for the song and the music. After the drums are written, I then proceed to record them at the best of my abilities. After all the recordings are finished, I send them to the client.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Tracking live drums, editing, cleaning and manual quantizing of the recorded tracks.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by guys like Adam "Nolly" Getgood of Periphery, Anup Sastry (ex-drummer for the Band Monuments) and Alex Rüdinger (drummer for bands such as Threat Signal, The Faceless, Conquering Dystopia)
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring my own style of playing into a song, I always want to make the best out of every song. For me, music is life.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I play many styles of music. Mostly, I play Metal, but I also love to play Blues, Jazz, Rock and Pop.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment I'm working on several new Youtube-videos and content for my channel in general.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I'd take my 6-piece Tama drumkit...wait...
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Never do 'fix it in the mix'. Get it right at the source!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill would be my timing. I always try to play as precise and tight as possible.

Very recently I finished recording a complete concept album of 9 songs and about 50 minutes of music for a client based in Brooklyn, New York! Lots of tricky stuff since it was a mixture of Progressive-, Power- and Symphonic Metal.
It was great fun and a cool challenge working on this project! And I'm looking forward to hearing the final product once it's done!
