My private studio is located in Hollywood and is based around a Pro Tools HD system augmented with my favorite outboard gear from Inward Connections, Summit, Chandler, Pultec, Universal Audio, and Cathedral PIpes. Atmos and stereo monitors by Wayne Jones Audio.

Interview with Adam Kagan
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been playing music since I was a child and producing, mixing and mastering professional music for about 20 years now.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Work until you are satisfied - don't settle for good enough.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Top40, Pop, R&B, Urban, EDM, Jazz, Rock and scoring.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is understanding the message of the music and allowing that to shine through.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I like to think I bring the best out in the music that is already there. I add my own flavor, but I try not to change the essence of what the artist and producer intended. My job should be transparent, but also improve the music to a point where the whole exceeds the sum of the parts.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to discuss the project with the producer and artist and figure out the best process, whether I work on a song and then make necessary revisions or sit with the artist or producer while I work. I typically work quickly, but take as long as it takes to get the job done.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work mainly in-the-box, but I have a few choice pieces of outboard gear that I can't get away from.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm influenced by the best music of the last few decades. I'm inspired by artists and producers who are into their craft and work hard.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mix songs for record companies and independent artists for Top40, Rhythmic, Jazz and Soundtrack. Pop, EDM, R&B, Jazz and classical. I master songs and albums for pop, R&B, jazz, classical and scores.
