70’s Rock, Funk, and Soul bass.
Hi!
Take a listen to some examples of my work, and see if I could be a good fit for playing bass on your next project.
My strengths are the 70's rock, soul, and funk sound. I strive to capture an analog feel and make something that sounds real and organic. My commitment to you will be that communication will be clear and concise, I will be easy to work with, and your song and stems will be delivered clear and organized. No flubbin’.
I play bass, piano, acoustic and electric guitar, and arrange drums and strings.
Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

It was an absolute pleasure recording for Jared. He had a very clear idea of what he was looking for and had demos and tracks ready to go. As a result, I was able to provide a recording for him quickly. I hope we get to work together again soon.

Jared was a pleasure to work with! He was super clear with his direction and references, and quick to communicate as we bounced ideas back and forth. He is a great musician and songwriter and I recommend him highly!

Jared is a pleasure to work with. Great writing and production and a very kind collaborator. Thank you!
I’ve worked with Jared professionally in the past and every time we’ve worked on something together, you get nothing less than 100% from him for the project. If you’re looking for someone to care as much about your project as you do, you’ve found the right guy
Interview with Jared Hopkins
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Well, I really enjoy analog, a lot of my inspirations are old 60s and 70's bands, so obviously they're all analog. That being said, the workflow of digital is just so much easier. And I use a lot of digital analog plugins, so maybe I'm just a poser analog lover....... either way.... ANALOG!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Nathaniel Wolkstein is a pro among pro's. So if you have string needs, go to this man.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I LOVE reference. If you can provide me with examples of what you’re going for we’ll be friends forever. I feel like most dissatisfaction between clients and artists originates from a lapse of communication and assumptions. Let’s talk it out good up front
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: A good nights sleep seems to crack even the most crippling writers block. No breakthroughs happened at 5:23AM. Go to bed.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Right now I’m listening through Funkadelic, and spending a lot of time in Maggot Brain. I practice bass to a lot of James Brown, and listen recently have been on a Lemon Twigs kick.
