Interview with Jay Vicari

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I work on SNL every week along with going out to venues to record and mix every type of music. My experience with the music and the people is tremendous. There are many artists that I appreciate so much.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Working on a David Johansen Documentary. That we recorded in a small club.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: We all love Analog, but digital is how we survive. Recall and editing is everything today. So we try to get plugins that sound analog to make us all happy.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: It’s artistic, it’s creative, with no boundaries.

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: I think first and foremost you need to be on the same plane musically and professionally. Meaning you need to respect on another’s ideas, open for changes.

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: Started in Clubs late 70’s , toured for 4years in the early 80’s . Owner of Allstar Sound in New Jersey until 1986. Moved on with Saturday Night Live until the present. 1978-present

  14. A: Polished, clean with great tones.
