  2. Review by Pete Mills

I spent many years in studios learning the craft as well as collaborating in multiple bands as a guitarist, songwriter. When it came time to do my solo project I ended up working with Voli and it was an an amazing experience. I've always loved his artistry but we were different genres. I was stoked to work with him when I realized his mastery of pro tools would enable me to focus on being the artist. The grounding he provided was so super phenomenal that I became intrigued about including him on song writing which carried over into the final mixing. So grateful for his supportive energy!

Voli is absolutely amazing. Me and him have worked on some sync tracks together plus some tracks for my personal artist project. His ear for music is incredible and his passion for it is unending. Love working with him so much as a colleague and a friend.

  23. Review by Liz Knickerbocker

I’ve had the opportunity to record with Voli on several occasions; each time I leave a bigger fan. As a classical string player without much recording experience, I didn’t know what to expect going into his studio the first time. Voli’s ability to communicate the vision and direct the session were only outshined by the uniqueness of his musical ear.
Voli has also facilitated multiple workshops with our teens and young adults at APCH. His leadership has inspired the aspiring musicians and producers alike. Their collaboration with him last year was the favorite song on our annual album.

  24. Review by Roderick

I am so blessed to have the ability to collaborate with him on projects. The Artists I work with are always excited to be part of the projects when they hear Voli on the track! Can wait to start another collab!

  27. Review by aaron blackmar

Voli is one of the most sincere and talented individuals I know. We've worked on a few songs together and every time I am blown away. His attention to detail and sound design are impeccable. The vocal production is always top notch and clean. This is so crucial in a song's presentation. Also, because he's a multi instrumentalist, he seems to understand and treat sounds with more care and craft. I think the most important of all, is he's just a great person that cares about his art. They don't get any more real.

In an era when being a good human is as valuable as being a good creative, Voli checks both boxes. His deep compassion for the human conditions matched by his broad reaching talents which range from technical to expressive, Voli is a 21st century artist who is precisely who he presents himself to be. Grateful for our collaborations.

  31. Review by Anthony Leonardi

Voli created an amazing score that brought a missing dimension to our film and became a main character. I'm always inspired by our artistic collaborations and watching the artistic maestro at work.

  32. Review by Dephree

The music that Voli produced for me is the best music I’ve ever made. He challenged vocally, lyrically and conceptually and as result our finished product is something I am beyond proud of. He took the time to know me so he could help me make authentic music and in post production his attention to detail and commitment to excellence took our tracks to a place far surpassing my highest hopes. So grateful for the opportunity to work with Voli. Best thing I ever did for my career.

I've been lucky enough to collab with Voli on several sync projects, and his instincts are on-point every time. We landed a song in Grey's Anatomy together and our work continues to get attention from music supervisors. If you get the chance to work with him, take it!

He's a great rapper and awesome actor (Netflix "Luke Cage" and "Cowboy Bebop") "The Deuce"

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: Ashley Levy definitely is amazing. Jordyn Kane and Aaron Blackmar are both incredible.

  5. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  6. A: - I love the ad/production work I've done with my production partner Young Guru. we worked with Visa, BBDo, The Marketing Arm, Time Warner on a mixture of things where I produced, toplined, mixed. I love work where I get to blend all of my different hats.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Depends on the situation. I'm not an either or guy. I love a world where both are used.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I'll always communicate with you and I will treat your project like my baby.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: It's different every day and I love creating "things" period.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: "What do you charge?" And I reply, "Well, tell me what you want to do and what your budget is, and I'll tell you what I can provide for you. I try my best to work with my clients' wallets because every situation is different."

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That it's fun all the time and relatively easy compared to other lines of work. No days off and requires a lot of self-discipline, organization, and initiative.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What are you trying to do? What is your budget? What is your timeline?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Be honest about your expectations, budget, and timeline. Communication is key.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Shure SM7B, Macbook Pro, Subpac with Sony MDR-7506 headphones, Adam A7xs, Apollo Twin. Sorry that's technically 6.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: That's a long story lol. But I've stretched from rapping as a teenager to producing for major artists and companies, all by exploring the different sides of the music and entertainment industry.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Flexible, dynamic, most of the time a bit darker/minor chord-ish but can be upbeat major when it feels right.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I don't have a wish list. I'm just grateful to collaborate with people I connect with personality-wise and workflow-wise. Talent is a fraction of it.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Don't be married to anything. Try things out and try to be remember it's not about the track it's about the final song/project.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: It's a wide range from pop to hip hop to trailer music. I love it all.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Again, my perspective and reliability. Making the music a lot of times is the easy part once you have the right intention. From there, the logistics of producing with the right sounds or getting the right vocal takes/comps is just step by step. I/We will get it done.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I think the biggest thing is my perspective. If I'm in a session with an artist who is focusing on sync, I pinpoint the sound to drive towards and go from there. But if we're dealing with something more abstract and bigger picture for an artist or film, I try to keep that concept in mind and help guide all the sonic and lyrical elements that need to come together to realize that vision.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: There's never a standard. Because I wear so many hats, I jump around to whatever's needed. It depends on the objective and the client. I always keep it fluid and pride myself on being easy to work with and reliable.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I typically bounce around studios but since the pandemic hit, I've mainly been working from my home studio virtually. I've got a collection of analog preamps and compressors (Warm Audio, Neve) mics (Neumann TLM103, Shure SM7B) Yamaha and Adams monitors.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I love Rick Rubin because he has a holistic approaching to guiding artists while also being passive in that guidance.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I have a passion for sync music (film and television) because it creates potential exposure and financial income for artists and producers outside of sales. So I end up working with a lot of ad agencies, film studios, and creatively with artists and producers doing anything from writing and toplining, to producing and mixing.
