Carol Mack was born and raised in Nashville, TN and has been writing music most all of her life. She has been a published/staff songwriter for the past 6 years, and in her artist career, she has opened for country stars like Willie Nelson, Walker Hayes, and Brett Eldredge. In 2017, she was awarded the Miranda Lambert Women Creators' Scholarship at Belmont University. In 2018, her song "Smokin' and Cryin'" was featured in the box office film "Forever My Girl", now available on Netflix. She was also recently featured in The Nashville Briefing’s “25 Songwriters You Need to Know.”

Interview with Carol Mack

Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is lyrics. Lyrics have always come most naturally to me.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a powerful, emotional aspect to a song. I have always been a writer and a storyteller, so I am great with details and color.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I typically start with a title or an idea and work from there. The melody and lyrics come to me usually at the same time, so when I'm done writing, I record the full vocal with either guitar, piano, or both, and then go back and re-record any spots that need fixing.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a studio setup at home, with sound panels, a keyboard, and some of the top mics and interfaces in the game. Vocals I record always sound professional.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am inspired by musicians such as the Chainsmokers, the 1975, Kacey Musgraves - I have very different tastes. I just like artists who make good, unique-sounding music.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am flexible - I love to sing a song that has already been written, but I also thrive when given an idea or title and can write a song on my own.
