Jake is a Mixing Engineer with an equal love for studio recording and live sound. Having spent half of his career touring as a FOH engineer and half in the studio as a producer and mixer, Jake has developed a unique harmony between the two mixing styles, which often feel distinctly separate. His mixes are inherently musical, clean, and polished.
Jake's easygoing and humble attitude makes him easy to work with & his attention to detail and commitment to excellence are what keep artists coming back. Specializing in Pop, Country, Singer/Songwriter, CCM, and Worship music, Jake is available for mixing, mastering, vocal editing/tuning, and full record production.

So thankful for the chance to get to work with Jake on our albums! As independent artists folks are constantly surprised by the quality of our recordings and Jake truly played a huge part in making that happen! We plan to try and work with him again in the future and we'd encourage you to look into working with him as well.
Jake produced my first and second record. He's exceptional to work with: has a remarkable ability to understand your project and vision; is a phenomenal coach in the studio; and makes you feel like your project is the most important thing he's working on. I've never regretted a dollar I've spent in the studio with Jake. Do it.
Jake is an incredible producer and engineer! He is my go-to for recording vocals, and I am always exceedingly pleased with the sound quality of his mixes! He is genuine, always reliable, conscientiously pays attention to detail, and communicates and delivers mixes in a very timely manner. I highly recommend Jake's skill!
Jake is one of the most talented guys in Nashville I know. He is so fun to work with and has an ear that can make any genre of music sound to its fullest potential! Jake would be my first recommended engineer to produce, mix, and/or master your next project!
Jake is a killer producer, engineer, and mixer who pays attention to detail and doesn't stop until the work is compelling. He is as fun to work with as he is talented. Five stars in my book.
Jake is great. We got a new console the day of a service at a church location and with his knowledge of the new console and his ability to make it work right away, our practice and service went off without a hitch. Great mix, great personality and overall vast knowledge of sound in a live and studio setting make Jake an awesome person to work with.
The first time I heard one of Jake's mixes I was blown away. He has a unique passion and dedication to the process to bring sounds to life. There's an attention to detail in Jake's mixes that is crafted w/ great care. If you want a partner that puts his whole self in to a project, Jake is your guy.
Jake took a project I was working on from B to A+. He is so quick to grasp what you're hearing for a song. And if you have a question or concern, he's able to outline and identify every last detail of a mix you could possibly consider. Couldn't say enough good things about this guy. Amazing contact to have
Jake is a wonderful engineer with incredible talent. There are many benefits to working with him, but among my favorites are his organization, attention to detail, and his skill in enhancing the music. Not only is he good at what he does, his attitude and heart make the experience a pleasant one. I highly recommend Jake!
I only have amazing things to say about Jake! He has mixed and mastered two projects for me and my expectations have been surpassed both times. Jake is awesome at what he does and a true pleasure to work with.
Jake is an absolute joy to work with, and I cant say enough about the quality of his work, his attitude, and his work ethic. He consistently brings value and professionalism to each and every project he touches. I would highly recommend his services to anyone.
I had the pleasure of managing a studio space with Jake on Music Row. His expertise, work ethic, and snack box were a hit! I've only heard amazing music come from his speakers, and he is quickly becoming a pillar in the Nashville music community. If you're looking for reliability and excellent results, call Jake!
Interview with Jake Hartsfield
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I wrote songs and played in a pop/rock band growing up, toying around in Pro Tools to record songs we'd written. I moved to Nashville in 2007 and immediately began producing & mixing artists I met around town. In 2009, I was invited to tour with a band called Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown as their Front of House engineer - Our first tour was opening for Styx, REO Speedwagon, and 38 Special. I soon began Tour Managing as well & toured with other artists out of Nashville (a few out of LA) like Matt Wertz, Megan & Liz, Mikeschair, and Denver & the Mile High Orchestra. During this time, I moved into a studio on Music Row and I was also producing and mixing projects. In late 2014, I took a break from touring to turn my focus to full-time studio production and mixing, which I've been doing since.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I work extremely hard to deliver the final mix you want the first time, and I will continue working until you are 100% satisfied!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Musicality, Creativity, Attention to detail, Polish
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Country, Singer/Songwriter, CCM / Worship
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Mixing musically. To be more specific, hearing what an artist or producer hears in their head and being able to replicate and deliver exactly what they want.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: "Reckless" by LOCKHART - My friend Jordan Kyle Reynolds produced this album and I mixed it (release date March 1, 2016). Lockhart is a country duo comprising Johnny Bulford and Janell Wheeler. As a songwriter, Johnny has written 3 Top 5 Country hits, including Lee Brice's #1 single "A Woman Like You." I really loved working on this project because the songs are all killer and Jordan is an extraordinarily talented producer...
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Save room in your budget for graphic design and marketing :)
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm a big fan of Manny Marroquin and Serban Ghenea; both are extraordinarily talented and creative mixers. A good percentage of the music I enjoy listening to was mixed by one of those two guys.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I primarily mix albums, EP's, and singles for independent artists, but I am often asked to produce as well. Lately when I've been asked to produce, I will bring on a co-producer that I think will contribute creatively and musically to the project. I like being able to focus on vocal production, editing, and arrangement without being overwhelmed with all of the creative responsibility; that ultimately allows me to be more creative in the mixing process.
