Interview with Chris Walsh (Industry Sound)
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Andrew Scheps and his techniques and style of mixing is what inspired my Workflow and pro tools set up. I also love the work of Manny Mariquin, Chris Lord Alge and Tony Maserati; I use countless plugins from them on a daily basis.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: They ask how they can sound like so and so, I will Listen to the record and see what they might be doing.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Hard work and willingness to be patient until the job is done right. I am flexible and good at communicating to find out what the artist wants.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Starting from ground up. First Editing removing breaths etc., Vocal Comping, Pitch correction and all of the small detail work. Then I work in broad strokes, Level out the instrumentation with the vocals and then begin to build the character and feel to the mix.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: A Mix and Master On A 2 track instrumental or stems , with approximately 10-35 audio files. I will do everything needed from comping, tuning & editing to Vocal Production & effects

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are some of your favourite artists in the industry that you feel have really quality mixes that i could reference for your song?
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: New age sound with character and inspiration from the past.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rap, R&B and Pop But have experienced working on everything from rock to a saxophone piece
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: You have to add seasoning to any good recipe, spice it up with ear candy, beat cuts, vocal screws, harmonies ect
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Quite Simply The Industry Sound. Overall Smooth and thick Vocals And a Even Balance in the frequency spectrum
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes but from what I've seen, the rates are too high for today's world. A mix and master on a record with 30 or less audio files shouldn't be costing $300.
