Hi I’m Zak, a UK based freelance immersive Dolby Atmos and stereo mixing engineer. Currently working out of Blue Bell Hill Studios in Kent as the in-house engineer, my work has accumulated over 100 million Spotify streams. Clients include: Jungle, Glass Animals, Bree Runway, You Me At Six, Skepta and Louis Tomlinson.
At Blue Bell Hill Studios I work alongside, one of the most prolific indie rock engineers of all time, Barny Barnicott (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Sam Fender), as his mix engineer. Currently running through a hybrid set up with an SSL G series desk.
Blue Bell Hill Studios is also a Dolby certified Dolby Atmos studio equipped with a 7.1.4 Genelec system and as a mixer I am registered with major labels to get Dolby Atmos mixes and all the appropriate files delivered.
Other previous experience has seen me work as an assistant engineer/intern at Studios 301 in Sydney, as well as completing an advanced diploma at Abbey Road Institute in London.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Dolby Atmos mixing, stereo mixes, recording, vocal tuning, drum editing (quantising)
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both - take away the depth that mixing on an analogue console provides, it gives you the luxury to commit your decisions. The possibilities with digital are endless.

A: The fader is your friend, sometimes you just need to turn it up!
