Let me blend some velvety harmonies with your tune. Placido Domingo, Jr. said to me: "your voice is like a 'refined-Sting'."
I love to sing and blend with others to make their song sound great! I will please you with a beautiful vocal support to your tune. I'll sing your melody, too, if you like!
I also specialize in composing for video and film soundtracks and music for yoga projects. In the case of yoga, I can create in realtime, a diverse and inspiring background to support your video. This is what I do for live events all around the world.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.
Interview with Jim Beckwith
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Yes. It's a modern world. Use what works for you to the best of your ability to make inspiring sound. It's not about the tool it's about the creator. Just like in photography, it's not about the camera, it's about the shooter. Do your best. Have fun.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will do my absolute best to be sure you are ecstatic about my work on your project.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: My work is play. My play is work.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I kind of burned out being a media producer in a job after five years and starting my own studio. Best decision I ever made. Twice as much money in the first year with half the work.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Flowing and melodic.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Stevie Wonder. He was my musical hero growing up.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't forget to take a break once in a while and come back with a fresh perspective! Breathe. Drink water. Be human. And if you get stuck on technique, find the answer on YouTube! ;-)
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I've done a lot of work on singer-songwriter material, but also World music, jazz, pop, rap. In my own music I have been specializing in supporting music for yoga events all around the world. These days that can include any style of music, so I never get bored! I like utilizing an array of styles. I use able to live controlled with the laptop to improvise, combining vocals, flutes and guitar with Beats and textures to support the moment. It's a great exercise in staying present and not being afraid to improvise!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I believe my strongest skill is being able to project a feeling, emotion through my voice and instruments.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a unique voice, a range of five octaves and an incredible blending ability, using a mix of air, tone and inflection to support the work.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I don't know if there's a typical work process, but the most important thing in my mind is to feel what the project needs, what the song needs to project the message or feeling that is intended.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I recently moved to Europe, so my setup is pretty minimal. The beautiful thing is because of today's technology, you can do so much in great Quality wherever you are. Gone are the days when we have to rely on racks of gear and isolated rooms. The most important tools are good ears in these days, good plug-ins!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm so inspired by great lyricists, singers and songwriters. So many great new ones coming up today.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am a singer by profession. I sing in performance as well as in the studio. I also create instrumental soundtracks in real-time, accessing a vast array of sounds textures, beats while adding Live guitar, vocals, flutes in improvisational session. This allows me to create a very fast, custom Soundtrack that relies on inspiration of the moment to support a live or recorded visual project.
