Mixing and Mastering engineer specialising in making your tracks sound punchy and amazing!
Hey there! I am a mixing engineer and producer from Manchester, UK. I have around 15 years experience and mostly specialise in Indie Rock and Alternative music but have also been known to make pop songs so hit me up for your next project!
No job is too big or too small!
I work out of a recording studio called Big City Jacks, based in Bury, UK but I also offer remote mixing and mastering working for global clients.
I always aim to have my mixes as punchy as possible and very modern sounding but if your band requires a more vintage sound, that is absolutely not a problem.
Feel free to say hello and let's discuss what you have in mind for your songs and I will do all I can to help you get there!
Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Endorse Oliver ShillitoInterview with Oliver Shillito
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That AI can do it for you or that you can apply some plugin presets and be done with it.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work with a lot of Indie and Alternative bands but I am also at home working on Metal, Rock, Blues, Pop and anything in between. I also work on Sync Music and Trailers from time to time.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is my gut instinct. It has never let me down yet!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I am a fountain of ideas. I often have ideas for drum patterns or fills, guitar riffs, chord changes. Anything that effects the mood and the excitement of the track. I feel like one of my strengths is taking a basic demo and turning it into a powerhouse of a song.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I currently have Amphion One18's, an Avid S3, an Antelope Orion 32 Gen 3 and a whole host of outboard gear!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My all time idol has to be Chris Lord-Alge but aside from that it would be people like Andy Wallace and Will Putney.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am a full stack Producer. I work with artists in the studio to bring their visions to reality as well as working with clients all across the world for remote mixing and mastering.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Multiple albums and EP's as well as working on TV music and trailers. I like to keep busy!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both and for different reasons. Digital for efficiency. Analogue for vibe and character. Digital emulations of classic analogue gear are getting better and better but you just can't touch the real deal. There is something inherently random about analogue that algorithms just cannot replicate. Not yet anyway...maybe one day!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise that you will always leave my studio ecstatic about the results. I won't quit until you're 1000% satisfied. My business depends on it.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like being able to stare into someones soul through their music and help them make that vision a reality and bring it to life for them.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Shop around, send out some messages. Pick a producer/mixing engineer that has worked on music similar to yours. Do not be swayed purely by a "name". There are underdogs in this game providing amazing work. Don't be afraid to be bold and work with someone you've never heard of. Even if they live in a different country. You just never know what results you can get.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Deftones - my all time favourite band. I don't think there is much I wouldn't give to record and mix one of their albums.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always serve the song and not the ego. Know when less is more.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I will receive the stems from the client usually via WeTransfer or Dropbox. From there I immediately begin cranking out an initial rough mix. For this I use my gut instinct and go where I feel the song is calling to go. I will then send this back to the client and get their thoughts on it. From there we will work together to hone it in to the final version which is then mastered and uploaded ready for release.
