Interview with jacam productions
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am continually writing and releasing music under the name "Johnny C". Working with some local folks to get their talents out there. Having fun with music every day.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both have their own unique qualities that can be used to make things sound cool. Different tools for different purposes.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Meeting people who are passionate about what they do. Making money is nice, but the real joy for me comes from meeting people who are as passionate as I am.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: We can't make bad things sound good. Shit in = Shit out.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been playing music and recording for 13 years. I quickly became the guy in the band who bought all the recording gear, and learned to record. I went to school for Audio Engineering about 5 years ago to invest in my skills, and learned a lot there. Continually making music and perfecting my craft.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Try to understand how you want a track/part/melody to sound before beginning to edit or mix it. It is way more effective to have a target, rather than just trying to make things "sound good".
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Typical home studio. I have worked hard to learn the best techniques to make my gear sound how I want it to.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: In the past, I usually take my clients from pre-production all the way to a complete product. I am capable of providing any and all of these services.
