Although rock music has been my most common area of work I am comfortable with different genres because I grew up and was influenced by many artists going from pop, soul, blues, jazz and punk.
Session Vocals: I will provide a dry mix high quality recording of my vocal performance so you can mix and edit the way you want it.
Upon completion, I will send you the reference rough mix, you can revise up to 1 time for free (exceptions may apply).
By revision, please understand: Minor/logical changes, not redoing a full session from scratch.
If you provide guidelines to follow I will follow it, so please be the specific of what your aim is, as much as possible. :) It's the best for both ends and makes the process easier.
When contacting for a proposal please include a clip of the song.
When writing toplines you will be sent a one take for approval.
Demos will be protected until payment is made. After that I will send you separate tracks.
Rock/Metal : Features on commercial releases upon specific agreement.
While I’m proud of all work I do, I ask this simply to separate music I work on as a hired musician/singer from music I write, produce and release as an artist.

Interview with NYA
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am super proud of the work me and She Was Silver have done last month. The song was awesome and I loved it. I did topline, lyrics and singing.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My band's next release and a couple of songs that go way out of my usual genre of work. All fun :)
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes, my band's drummer Hugo Ribeiro.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The connection. The feelings that emerge. Being able to deliver something that makes someone feel like I understood their song.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: - What's the mood of the song? - What are you aiming for? - What subjects you DON'T want to address to on lyrics?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Always make sure you hear the reel and send a sample from the song you want to work on. Make sure you "visualize" the singers voice in your composition. Always be clear about what you are looking for.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started singing in church when I was very little. I ended up leaving music behind when I stopped going there and began my path in theater. When I was 17 years old and dropped out of highschool, as I was watching a concert from The Mission I realized this was I wanted to do with my life. I started my own band, a gothic rock band, back then. Since then I've had two more bands and now I have my long time project which is my biggest passion. I also did musical theater in between.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Unfortunately he's no longer with us. Because he was such a big part of my growing up and training as a singer, I would have loved to work with George Michael.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I believe my strongest skill is the ability to connect with the music I am offered.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My biggest dedication and emotion. For me music as always been about feelings, emotions and introspection. I try to make the songs "mine" in the same way I do in my own music.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually ask for a sample before I accept the job, once we reach an agreement I take a few days to study the song and memorize it as much as I can to make the recording process as most natural as possible. Depending on what the client is looking for, I might take more or less time to get into the mood of the work.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Effort, dedication, passion.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Being a singer is the easy way out in a band ... 'cause you don't have gear to carry around! (lol)
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Acoustic Guitar, Xilophone, Drums. There's no electricity, right? ;)
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Raspy, edgy, mellow, sensitive, catchy. Honestly, it really depends on the song I'm working on. :)
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on almost all types of genres although rock and metal have been present in the majority of my musical career.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My biggest inspiration in music has always been George Michael. I know it sounds a bit crazy because I am a rock artist, but he was actually the reason why I started singing. I spent years studying his songwriting and vocal melodies as well as his lyrics. For me he was one of the most sincere and open heart artists of our time.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I've actually been doing a bit of everything. Songs where I do vocal melody, lyrics and session singing, songs where I only did lyrics and session and others where I just did melodies. I love doing all of these, so it's been really exciting.
