Jennifer speaks the language. She is an incredible communicator and one of the hardest working people I've collaborated with. You will receive a great product delivered in a timely manner. Anything Jen puts out is handcrafted with her deep artistry woven in. She's amazing.
Interview with Jennifer M.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in Logic Pro X in my home studio using an Aston Spirit mic
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm very excited to be releasing a new artist project the early part of 2020 and to be releasing the first tracks I've produced myself soon.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love creating. It feels like my purpose in life, and I think of following my passion as an act of obedience. I think of myself as a channel and feel grateful that inspiration comes through me.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Art is so subjective. That's why I think it's important to work with someone who aligns with your taste. In the end, you are hiring someone to make creative decisions on your behalf, so you need to work with someone whose decisions you trust. Like any relationship though, it can take time to get to know someone. I think the more you work with someone, the smoother the process can go.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes! I worked with Sunnie Williams before. She is an insanely talented writer, singer, and engineer.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I love digital. I love how digital has no limits - that any sound is possible.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I love to know as much as possible about your vision, including reference tracks, descriptive words, genres, and the like. This helps me minimize revisions and help deliver a final product we both can be proud of. I also would want to know what your plans for the project are, i.e. demo, commercial release, etc.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I love mixing pop melodies, syncopation, and production with folk vulnerabilities and EDM soundscapes, but can fluctuate between all three depending on what you have in mind for your session.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I have the most experience in Pop, EDM, and folk, but love to experiment.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I think one of my most defining qualities is the unique, breathy, and warm timbre of my voice.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am the most inspired by songwriters who are also producers and singers. Artist like Jon Bellion, Labrinth, Ayokay, and so many more. In addition to singing and writing, I also build my own tracks for my own artist project, and think this is the best way to get a truly experimental and hybrid soundscape.
