Sunnie made this song—that was readily produced and written—hers! She truly captured the emotion of each lyric that was partnered with the music, and made it so much better than what I had expected and asked for. Will definitely work with her again!
Sunnie is a rock star!!! She delivered everything asked and then some. She is super talented, has a great vibe and dynamics to her voice, follows direction perfectly, is creative in her own right and is an excellent communicator.
Sunnie is incredible: beautiful voice, talented, responsive, a total pro.
Had a blast working with her, and she managed to help me a lot within our pretty tight deadline.
Would love to do it again!
Sunnie did full vocals for two tracks (dark dance pop, pop rock). I'm delighted with the results! She delivered exactly what I asked for, both technically and in terms of emotional expression and has been highly professional, patient and positive to work with. Great musical and technical knowledge. Great voice and boy can she belt! Will use again!

She puts her real true heart and spirit into the work. Very talented too!! Highly recommend her.
Sunnie was awesome! Really easy to work with, and she brought tons of ideas and inspiration to make a something great. Can't wait to work with her again.
I've just finished mixing the song for Tantalize (Samu Puuronen) with Sunnie on vocals. I have only positive impressions, well performed, professionally recorded, backing tracks are perfectly time aligned. No need for extra editing or tuning only pure pleasure of mixing and listening to the sweet vocal character. I wish all vocalists were like that ;)
I brought in Sunnie to track vox for a TV jingle. There was a bit on the line for me since it was my client's first time hiring me to put a project like this together. Sunnie showed up and kicked butt - we had a bunch of lead options & layers tracked in about an hour. Happy client!
I hired Sunnie to record in the studio for me. She was very professional and a pleasure to work with. She brings her own flavor and at the same time works well with producers. Very versatile and knowledgeable, doing her own harmonies on separate tracks and quickly understanding what we were looking for.
Words can't discribe the talent that dwells in this young lady. There's something special about her and it shows in her music. Genuine in her approach, tender in her delivery. Of the few sessions I've had with her I have been blown away by both her drive and ability. P.S. this girl can sang!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had the pleasure of working with Sunnie for a wedding several months ago. We had done a cover of a song that the bride wanted, and we sort of made it our own. Sunnie has one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard in music. I was amazed at the range she was able to hit. I would highly endorse Sunnie!!!
I have worked with hundreds of artists in California. Most of them were live performances and some were features on my own pieces. Out of all of them, nobody tops Sunnie's knowledge of music as a whole. From her understanding of building the pieces to the business end of a finished product, she works fast and well. Best voice in town, full package.
Interview with Sunnie Williams
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am proud of the work that I did on Jayson Angove's most recent album as well as his upcoming album. Both of the songs that I am featured on were out of my element but I believe they came out incredibly beautifully.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Aside from teaching my roster of wonderful students, I am currently working on a Solo EP that I am very excited to release.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not currently but I hope to make connections.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Oh boy. To me, running audio through real circuitry usually sounds better. I am going to have to go with analog.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to be professional and efficient. I promise to deliver the exact vocal aesthetic you believe will make your song shine. I promise not to waste your time.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Someone could write an original song based off of their own experiences and ask me to sing it for them. I, then, sing it and project my own experiences onto something that was born in them. The result is a unique piece of art that is a combination of our journeys. This collaboration process is the best thing about any work that I do.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: I am most commonly asked for samples of what I have done in the past. I have a large catalogue of samples that I am able to share with them.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception is that a voice is all you need. A session musician needs to have a deep understanding for music to work efficiently and achieve the client's desired results.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: When and where do you need me? Will you need me to write? Is there a specific aesthetic that you are after?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Hire someone who responds to inquiries quickly and thoroughly. Look for signs that they will be professional, on-time, efficient, knowledgeable, flexible and honest. In my experience in the music industry, these qualities are just as important as the raw talent a person may have.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Mac of course, Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, Genelec 8030B's, Advanced Audio CM 12, Korg Kronos Workstation.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been a session vocalist since I was in my early teens. I began studying voice privately at age 20 and at 23 I had a Bachelor of Arts in Music. I began working as a vocal coach, managing a roster upwards of 40 students. Also at 23, I became a vocalist for Northern California's most active entertainment band, Hip Service. By 25, I had earned an Associate of Arts degree in Commercial Recording and began to run sessions at the studio that I teach out of. Today, at age 26, I make my living solely as a vocal instructor, live performer and session vocalist.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: The music I create tends to be brooding, passionate and emotional while maintaining a pop groove and accessibility that is pleasing to listeners of all musical backgrounds.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Tove Lo. I appreciate her honesty when writing lyrics. Her hooks are incredibly infectious. Tove Lo is someone I admire greatly.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't be afraid to push boundaries when creating. Learning the rules is great but breaking them can be just as good.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I am usually enlisted to work on pop and pop rock. However, I am very passionate about jazz and it was in that genre that I got my start.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill would have to be my vocals. I have a large range and am able to achieve virtually any tone quality a client might ask for. As a vocal instructor, I have a deep understanding for how to keep a voice healthy, strong and versatile.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I believe that if a certain element of a song, especially the melody or vocal delivery, felt like it was too easy to write, then it probably won't catch a listener's ear as being interesting. Every time I step into the booth or sit at the piano, my goal is to utilize an interesting musical element whether it be incorporating triplets into a top-line, writing the melody on the 9th of the tonic chord or creating a chord progression that never quite resolves. I know how to make a song stand out as interesting.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: On a typical session vocal gig, I make sure to do at least 30 minutes of vocal exercises everyday for 4-5 days leading up to recording day. During the actual recording process, I like to loop record each section of a song, then loop record harmonies and finally lay down one or two full tracks of ad-libs. Then, of course, I go back and comp and edit all of the vocal tracks.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I record into a Rode NTK, to a UMC 404HD with Midas preamps, into a Solid State Drive Mac Mini. I use Pro Tools 12.4 and am equipped with all of the essential plug-ins needed to deliver a perfectly clean vocal track. I also have Tascam Monitors, a Casio Midi Controller and an SM58 for laying down quick scratch vocals.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am deeply inspired by early jazz vocalists like Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan. I am also inspired by more contemporary singers such as Amy Winehouse and Hayley Williams. My songwriting is heavily influenced by Sia and Tove Lo.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most prevalent work I do is provide lead and background vocals and cowrite for independent artists, producers and songwriters.
