7x Grammy Award-Winning Mixer
I got my start in one of the world’s top recording and mixing facilities where I got to work with top level acts like Beck, The Fray, Marc Anthony and Chick Corea. Learning from the greatest Pop mixers in history - such as Bruce Swedien, Al Schmitt, and Mick Guzauski - gave me the skills to handle any type of music.
As a 7x Grammy award winner for mixing, I specialize in making big, punchy, clear and detailed mixes with lots of energy and emotion. I work very hard to understand the intention of the artist and then enhance every aspect of the music to bring out the maximum emotional impact in the end listener.
I have worked in almost every genre including Pop, Hip Hop, Rap, EDM, Rock, Metal, Jazz, Swing, Folk, Orchestral and Film Music.
Melding different genres of music? No problem. I know what works to make each genre special.
Having trouble getting your vocals to fit with the music? Dealing with complex vocal arrangements, harmonies and mountains of vocal tracks? Bring it on. That's what I've specialized in handling for more than 20 years.
Let me contribute my hard won expertise and skills to elevate your music to the next level.

Extremely pleased with Buck's work and assistance! Unlike several others I had reached out to, he really understood what I was looking for, and was flexible enough to propose a little work package that fit my needs perfectly. Went the extra mile and has, at the end of the day, helped me overcome various frustrating mix challenges that have been causing me to lose sleep for the better part of two years. Couldn't be happier.

Second time mixing with Buck, and once again a stellar mix! On this track he balanced a hundred different vocal tracks of different origins and made them all sound great together, plus he made the backing track pop as well. Sounds great!

This was my first time mixing a track with Buck. I'm very very satisfied with the result. It sounds way better than I'd expected, in fact. Buck is professional, communicative, and delivers on time. Now I regret I didn't hire him sooner. I'll be back!

Interview with Buck Snow
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Dustin Atlas. He is a fantastic song writer and producer who can really bring the best performance out of a singer.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Each have their own strengths which can be used to make great sounding music.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Enjoying good music and knowing that I am helping to create a direct line where the artist's vision is then delivered directly to the audience.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Question: "How did you make this sound so GOOD?!? I didn't think it was possible" Answer: "Its attention to every little detail which then adds up to a big difference in the overall picture".
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That anyone can mix. It is a highly artistic field in it's own right, which is based on some very technical knowledge. Even if you think a project sounds as good as its can get, having another person who specializes in mixing take a go at a project can elevate it to a whole new level.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are you not satisfied about how you project currently sounds? What do you like about how it currently sounds?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Discuss your project and your artistic vision. A really good engineer will be able to understand what is important to you and adapt their style to create what is best for the project.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: NU100k microphone, GML 2020 channelstrip, Pro Tools computer, Apollo x8p Interface with all UAD plugins, PMC MB2 speakers.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I played guitar in high school and found that I had a lot more fun recording music than playing it. I've now dedicated the last 20 years to becoming one of the most top quality mixers.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Big, Bold, Epic, Punchy and Clear. I strive to make every instrument big and bold and give it it's own place so that it can be heard, all to back up the main emotional point of the song.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Timbaland. I am always looking for the groove and rhythm in a piece of music, and he has the most amazing groove second-to-none.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't get bogged down in the technical aspects of a project. The engineer is here to take care of the technical aspects so the artist can concentrate on performing. A technically perfect recording with no emotional performance can never be mixed to be great. But a great emotional performance with some technical imperfections can be made into a masterpiece.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, rock, hip hop, film music
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: To hear the potential in a piece of music and pull out every bit of energy and emotion so that it has so the greatest emotional impact is created in the audience.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I make everything sound big, bold and clear.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: To listen to what the artist has already and work out a game plan to bring it to the next level. Go through ever part of the song to ensure every detail is taken care of, and create the best sounding mix that can be done.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I am very focused on using the best equipment to get the best sound. My studio setup is constantly evolving as I test and implement new gear to achieve the best sound that I can.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Bruce Swedien, Chris Lord-Alge, Mick Guzauski, Pharrell,
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I take songs that have already been recorded and edited and mix all of the elements together to create the best sounding mix possible. I bring my artistic vision and many years of mixing experience to the project to elevate it to a fully professional and radio ready sound.
