Interview with Joey Tingen
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: This project I worked on with YB Doug as I spent hours tailor making the beat to his voice and mixing it to detail... It had an amazing vibe in the end!!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on a solo project as "Joey Tingen", my sound is House, Melodic-Techno & Cinematic DnB.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital as it's what I've used the most, but I would love to work more in analogue one day.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Improve your record to it's full potential.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: What kind of styles of music can you make? I would say that I could make anything if i put my mind to it!! If I'm inspired I can do many different styles.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Vocal production is definitely the most difficult and intense part of what I do.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Do you know what you want the final product to sound like? Do you have a reference track? Are there any producers/songwriters you look up to? So that i can get a good sense of what you're after...
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been doing this for about 10 years now. I started out by messing around with lots of different music softwares, playing with loops.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Martin Garrix as he has a wonderful way with melodies...

A: Pop/EDM & Trap.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Catchy hooks and slick productions!!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I tend to have a listening session before starting on anything, assess the situation and choose how to move forward from there. I normally do vocal production (the finicky work) before digging into the track, and build from there.

A: My main inspirations are Martin Garrix, Ian Kirkpatrick, Illangelo, Poo Bear, diplo.
