Martin Debussy on SoundBetter

I've worked for Universal Music, Nickelodeon, Showtime, Disney Channel Europe, Vocat and I'm a pro music producer with 15+ years of experience

I'm a top-rated music producer-writer working in Los Angeles, California.
I've written and produced songs for Universal Music, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, Netflix, and several artists.

I play piano, bass, and guitar and have an obsession with production.
I love what I do and I'm extremely thankful to have been able to do this for a living for so long!
I love to work with all types of artists, but especially with passionate ones that have a desire to create music.

I have worked with all levels of artists, from beginners (with whom I help with the songwriting if needed), to established professionals that know exactly what they are looking for and want to work side by side on their vision.

Let's work right away!
Check my reviews, all my clients keep coming back and that's the best compliment I could ever have.

I produce with Logic Pro X, and have a big roster of music players that can also be hired if needed in order to be able to attack any type of project.

Interview with Martin Debussy

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I'm currently writing/producing songs for a female pop artist.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: Creativity and commitment to your inner vision.

  5. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  6. A: Chris Martin, because he's an artisan of the art of songwriting. Charlie Puth because his talent would be a high bar to push me to my limits. Max Martin, because of his work ethics and experience.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: Movement. Music is an art that manipulates time, so if you are able to create movement in a track, you can make the listener feel it. This is achieved by adding exponential automatizations, both of volume, of dynamics, and of rhythm too.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: Pop

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: Originality

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: I put my best to it. I make a lot of research for each song so that I can create something unique for each one. I believe babies don't grow on babies, so in order to bring something new to each song, I research outside of music to bring new ideas that can be translated into music.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: When writing from scratch, first I talk and listen. 9 out of 10 times, the song ideas come from that talk. When producing, it's always about the song. I try my best to create a production/arrangement that elevates the song.

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: I rely on my focal solo 6 be, they make me enjoy my whole experience with every track. I use Logic Pro X and Pro Tools, running on a macbook pro, with an apollo twin. Mics: Neumann u87ai, 57s and 58s Instruments: Yamaha grand piano G5 (1969), Fender Stratocaster USA, Fender Precision bass (with modified jazz pickups, sounds like heaven), takamine nylon guitar, beaudeaux custom made acoustic guitar.

  19. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  20. A: Greg Wells, Ryan Tedder, Charlie Puth, John Ryan, Jason Evigan, Chris Martin, Michael Brauer, Rik Simpson, Jacob Collier, Quincy Jones, Max Martin, Claude Debussy, and many more.

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: Most of the work I do is songwriting and producing. Production includes arrangements when needed, I'm a pop producer with a classical background.
