Rock & Metal Session Guitarist

I am a session guitarist that has strong influences in rock and metal. I can write new guitar pieces for your song or rerecord guitar for parts you've already written.

The Soundcloud account is for a band I used to be in where I wrote all the guitar pieces. It should give you an example of my playing and style.

Feel free to reach out to me about your project or if you have any questions.

Working with Cody was great. He let me know what he wanted and gave instructions and a scratch performance taking out some of the guess work. He was specific about revisions and was available for additional questions. Good times!

Interview with Cody Slingerland

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: Rock, Metal, Electronic, and Hip Hop.

  3. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  4. A: I'm into a bunch of different styles of music including Rock, Metal, Electronic, Hip Hop, and Classical. Some artists I like and have inspired some of my music include: Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, Five Finger Death Punch, Red Starset, You Me At Six, Breaking Benjamin, Fireflight, All That Remains, etc.

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: I work as a Digital Marketer. I run a company called ROC Web Marketing which specializes in Internet Marketing including creating content, producing video, and designing websites. As far as musically, I've been playing guitar for about 5 years now. I started playing guitar fairly late as compared to some other guitarists who start playing in high school or even younger. I started playing guitar my first year in college. I took an introductory class to guitar. That class introduced me to playing and from there I began to teach myself the rest. I picked up guitar very quickly and now I can play just about anything. Since learning to play guitar, I've also picked up playing bass, piano, and drums.

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: I don't have a specific process. I usually just play around until I find something that works. I like to experiment with different sounds and playing techniques. I'll mess around until I come up with something that is unique.

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: Writing and composing songs hands down. There are other guitarists out there that are better than me at playing proficiently or faster than I can play. But I'm certain that my strongest skill is coming up with unique guitar melodies or riffs and composing songs. I create unique pieces.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: Guitars: Schecter Hellraiser C-1, Ibanez ARX 140, Washburn Acoustic, Ibanez Bass. Recording Equipment: Presonus Firestudio with Monitor Station Remote, Presonus Digimax D8, JBL LSR305, Akai MPD26, Acorn Masterkey 25, M Audio Keystation 61. Plug-Ins (Too many too list but ones to note): Amplitube 3, Guitar Rig 5, Rosen Digital Impulse Responses, Superior Drummer 2, EZ Drummer 2, Kontakt

  13. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  14. A: Mike Shinoda. Linkin Park is my favorite band and Mike is a huge part of that. Plus, Fort Minor is another influence to me. I like Mike's style and I would love to work on a song with him.
