Interview with Lemar Jaily

  1. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  2. A: "It's easy, just put on some effects, shouldn't take too long" are common misconceptions that I've stumbled upon. Creating a project takes time, we'll need to agree upon a timeframe that fits our schedule and reach a common ground. Once that is settled, there is a lot of arranging, tweaking and fixing to be done. This process can take a while as life is unpredictable, but ultimately we'll decide on a deadline when the project starts to make sense thenceforth the deadline it is. I strongly recommend to come in creating your project with humbleness and patience. You want the best song you could possibly have and I want to create that for you.

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: I have been making music on and off for almost twelve years, it became more serious during my years at the university. I learned a lot from that time so much so that I now can give back to the community and help other aspiring musicians, artists and songwriters. I love music and want nothing more than for your project and you to be the best that you can be.

  5. Q: What's your typical work process?

  6. A: We'll start by having a conversation about what is that you want to create on your preferred line of communication. From there we decide a given timeframe that fits our schedule. Not long after I'll start creating a draft and send it to you to make sure that we're on the same track. From that moment on we'll keep working on your song, producing, recording and writing, the kind of job that you've hired me to do. We keep working on your track, developing, improving, rearranging until we reach a final result and we're both satisfied with the outcome.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: Less is more.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: I can produce and write all kinds of styles in between the genres of Afrobeat, Tropical/Dancehall, Hip-Hop, Trap, EDM, R&B/Soul, Pop.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: My strongest skills are beat-making and song-writing just as mentioned above.

  13. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  14. A: Beat-making and song-writing. It's still amazing to me that you can create something out of thin air. It begins as nothing maybe just a couple of small ideas and then it's built into this full amazing sounding project.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: You need to have a clear idea about what it is that you want. You also need to be ready to put in the work necessary in the given timeframe you've decided. The investment you've made is non-refundable, because I'll have already invested time and effort into your project. Let's make sure that your investment then is worthwhile.

  17. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  18. A: I want our agreement to benefit us both, I will work until we're both satisfied and come to a final result.
