Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: I was the writer and vocalist for Excision and Dion Timmer's 2021 hit "Salvation." That was an amazing experience because I wrote and recorded that song in my home studio, and then got to see that song played for thousands upon thousands of people at EDC and Lost Lands festivals!

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: I'm working on producing my own album, producing songs for TV and film, as well as writing for melodic bass artists around the world.

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

A: Jenna Vivacora - extremely multitalented at all she does (singing, songwriting, keyboards, vocal lessons etc) Devon Michael (just goes by Devon on SoundBetter) - incredible writer, producer, musician Dani King - amazing topliner

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Digital, I love analog but also love access to it digitally.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: My promise to my clients it to treat each project as if it's entirely my own. I put my heart into the lyrics, and deliver the highest quality, pristine vocals (professional stems, plus wet and dry vocal mixes I engineer myself) - complete with stacks and adlibs.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: I love being able to bring emotion to life and bring someone's vision for a song to life. It is such meaningful work because music is truly an instrument of healing.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: They typically ask me about what the process is and ensure they'll get full vocal stacks. I always say yes! I treat each project as if it's entirely my own - full vocal arrangement, stacks, and dry and wet vocal mixes. You get the best of the best.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: The biggest misconception is that my work isn't often done remotely or from home! My best work happens in my home studio and it's so fantastic to work with clients all over the world this way.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: If they haven't already expressed it, I ask what their vision and plan is for the song. Knowing where they want the song to end up (a particular label or TV show, for example) can help me craft the song with that intention in mind.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Go into the process excited and with an open mind. Creative collaboration can bring about unexpected ideas that turn out to be your favorite!

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I've been toplining professionally for 8 years now. Some of my first cuts really established me - I worked with Excision, BEAUZ, and Tiesto in my second year and then continued to work with Blanke, Ray Volpe, Sabai, Hoang and many more rising stars. I've had releases on nearly every major EDM label (Monstercat, NCS, Ophelia, Subsidia, Lowly, Soave, and more). I also started my own artist project in Nashville as well during that time and had placements on shows such as All American, Love Is Blind, Love Island and video games such as Rocket League and Roblox. I've loved every project I've been a part of - from toplining to sync to writing and releasing my own EPs.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: I have a breathy, raspy leaning chest voice that goes well with my airy falsetto range, but I also have the ability to belt powerfully and emotionally. When it comes to write, I always say heart first. Writing from a real emotional place is key (even if you are changing the story or characters in the song, so to speak, to fit the real emotion). And I'm a huge proponent of writing positive and inspirational songs.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: I'd like to work with Illennium and Gryffin in the melodic bass space because they are legends in the genre, and Tommee Profitt in the cinematic space because I'm a major fan of his Birth of a King album and the beautiful, massive cinematic tracks he produces. Also because Tommee works with only premiere vocalists and I'd be honored to join that group!

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Yes! Don't be afraid to use outtakes from the lead vocal as your doubles. As long as your timing and tune is correct, it's a great way to save time. If I have a lead take that I didn't prefer the performance on, I move it to be a double and it often blends perfect into the vocal mix.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: I typically work on melodic bass and cinematic pop music.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: I think strongest skill is emotional vocal delivery and intentional vocal arrangement. I know that even the stacks you can't hear in the track can make a huge difference to the feel the listener gets, and I know that you have to pick and choose your moments for belting, quieter croons, etc, to really deliver the song's message.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I bring heartfelt emotion, writing, and years of professional experience. I have an instinct for melody and vocal performance that I capture well with my technical recording and engineering skills to deliver the best possible vocals I can for every project.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: When writing, I write melody first and make sure all the melodic parts are feeling right and there's the right balance I want of release and tension, short and long melodies, rise and fall. When recording vocals, I typically record lead and doubles first, and then listen to each section of the song to see what stacks feels right for each to really capture the emotion of the track. I often add several octaves, harmonies and build throughout - so maybe just one octave and harmony to stack the first chorus and then another harmony plus adlibs for the second chorus. I do adlibs last to add that intentional ear candy to the track to add that finishing touch to make it even more alive and dynamic.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I have a home studio complete with a Universal Audio Apollo Twin Interface and Neumann TLM 102 microphone. I record and engineer all my vocals in Logic Pro and have for years. Love my setup!

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: I'm very inspired by both pop and cinematic tracks, which makes a lot of sense when you consider my passion and success for the melodic bass/dubstep genre which really combines the two. I'm particularly inspired by the vocals of Celine Dion, HAYLA, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande and by the production of Tommee Profitt, Illennium, Gryffin, Excision, and classic Disney movie scores such as Tarzan (Phil Collins) and Spirit (Hans Zimmer, Bryan Adams).

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: I create custom, professional toplines for clients that are full of emotion and heart. I treat every project like its entirely my own, and often spend more time on adlibs and harmonies than I'd like to admit. I believe every project I'm hired for should have heartfelt lyrics and vocal performance.
