I’m a professional Mixing & Mastering Engineer specializing in clean, powerful, and emotionally engaging mixes. I work with independent artists to bring out the best in their music while preserving the character, emotion, and intention behind the recording. My approach combines technical precision with musical creativity
My approach to mixing goes beyond simply making a track louder. I focus on vocal clarity, depth, punch, dynamics, stereo image, balance, and overall musicality—making sure every element has its place without losing the feel of the song.
I also have experience as a music producer, which gives me a strong understanding of arrangement, sound selection, instrumentation, and how different elements should work together.
What I offer:
• Professional vocal mixing
• Full song mixing
• Stereo mastering
• Mix preparation & vocal processing
• Instrumental/beat mixing
• Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, Reggae, Gospel, Afrobeats, Afro R&B, and others

Interview with Maxx
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: One project I’m especially proud of is “Shalewa” by Patosven. I handled the production, mixing, and mastering of the song. I’m proud of the project because I was involved from the creative foundation through to the final master, allowing me to shape the overall sound and bring the artist’s vision together into a polished record.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m currently working on the Patosven EP and the Dyvn Trybb EP, handling music production, mixing, and mastering while helping shape the overall sound and direction of both projects.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I don’t currently have a personal connection with another SoundBetter provider that I can confidently recommend, but I’m always open to collaborating with talented professionals on the platform.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. It gives me the flexibility, precision, and creative control to shape a mix efficiently while using modern tools to achieve warmth, depth, and character when needed.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is to treat every song with care and attention to detail. I’ll respect your vision, communicate clearly, and deliver a polished mix or master that brings out the best in your music.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: What I enjoy most is taking a song from a rough idea to a polished, emotionally engaging record. I love hearing how the right balance, vocal treatment, depth, and dynamics can completely transform a song while keeping the artist’s identity intact.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: “Will you make my song sound professional?” Yes. I’ll work with your production and vision to improve clarity, balance, depth, punch, and overall impact while preserving the character of the song. “How many revisions do I get?” I include two revisions so we can fine-tune the final result based on your feedback. “What do you need from me?” Clean, properly labeled files, a reference track if available, and any specific notes about the sound you’re looking for.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception is that mixing and mastering is simply making a song louder. It’s about balance, emotion, clarity, dynamics, and making sure every element works together while preserving the artist’s vision.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I usually ask about the artist’s vision, genre, reference tracks, and what they want the final record to sound and feel like. I also ask about the deadline, preferred delivery format, and any specific areas they want me to focus on.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Choose someone who understands your artistic vision, communicates clearly, and has a sound that fits your music. Share quality files, reference tracks, and clear feedback, and give the engineer room to bring their expertise to the record.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop, audio interface, studio monitors, condenser microphone, and MIDI controller. With those five, I’d have everything I need to produce, record, mix, and create.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started my journey as a music producer, developing my skills through years of hands-on experience in music production, recording, mixing, and mastering. Over time, mixing and mastering became a major part of my work, especially for independent artists. I continue to refine my craft through every project, focusing on creating professional, musical, and emotionally engaging records.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is clean, warm, modern, and musical. I focus on creating depth, clarity, and punch while preserving the emotion and character of the artist’s performance. I aim for mixes that feel natural, immersive, and translate well across different listening systems.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I’d love to work with Odeal because of his distinctive approach to Afro-urban R&B. His music leaves room for creative sound design, detailed vocal production, and atmospheric mixing, which fits the kind of records I enjoy creating.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don’t try to fix everything with plugins. Get the arrangement, gain staging, and balance right first. A strong mix starts with a strong foundation.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mainly work on Hip hop, Afrobeats, Afro R&B, Gospel, Afro-fusion, and contemporary urban music. I also enjoy working across different styles and adapting my mixing approach to fit the artist’s sound and vision.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is creating clean, balanced, and emotionally impactful mixes while preserving the artist’s original sound. I pay close attention to vocals, dynamics, clarity, and the overall feel of the record.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring clarity, balance, depth, and emotion to every song I work on. I focus on making vocals sit naturally, enhancing the production without losing its character, and creating a polished sound that translates well across different playback systems.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start by reviewing the client’s files, reference tracks, and creative direction. I then organize and prepare the session before mixing, focusing on balance, clarity, vocals, dynamics, and overall impact. After the first mix is delivered, I collect feedback and make the agreed revisions. Once approved, I finalize and deliver high-quality WAV and MP3 files ready for release.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My setup includes a Behringer audio interface, M-Audio BX5 studio monitors, a B1 condenser microphone, and a MIDI controller. I work primarily in FL Studio and Reaper, using a range of professional plugins for mixing, mastering, production, and vocal processing.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I’m inspired by producers and engineers who combine musicality, creativity, and technical precision. My influences include Hip hop, modern Afrobeats, Gospel, Afro R&B, and contemporary urban music producers who create distinctive sounds while keeping the music emotionally powerful.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mainly mix and master singles for independent artists, with a focus on clean, balanced, punchy, professional-sounding records. I also work on vocal production, arrangement, and overall sonic enhancement.
