I worked with Miloco Studios for over 10 years, who managed me as an engineer/producer and called on me for many sessions. From international Hip Hop stars Wiz Khalifa and Ludacris to indie rock band The Yeah, Yeah Yeahs.
I have had a hand in 2 x UK #1 records and I also mixed the branding music for the UK's most popular TV channel BBC 1, which ran for 6 or 7 years and was broadcast over 100,000 times!
I have streaming directly from Pro Tools, so I can send you a live audio/video feed anywhere in the world of the mix in progress. 2-way communication helps nail the mix quickly and efficiently.

Interview with Matt Foster
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I have already worked with some of my favourite artists - however Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley will always be close to the top of my list. They changed the world of music in the very brief amount of time that they were active - and I feel they both had so much more amazing music to create.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both, because there are huge benefits of both worlds.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To treat your song as if it were my own.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Acoustic guitar, crazy good Soundsystem, powerful laptop, amazing headphones and a vinyl record deck with 1000s of records - I guess I would need some solar power too!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Sure, monitor quietly for most of the time when mixing. Turn it up loud only for short periods.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Hip Hop, Rock, EDM, House, Techno and everything in between.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I think balancing the technical with the creative and artistic.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I try to make as much magic happen as possible, if that be creative touches to make the song shine, or a certain groove, feel or sound. Making the vocals project with extreme clarity and energy. Letting the song dictate the direction and hitting it out of the park.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I have an assistant who helps me prepare for mixes and also bounces stems etc. Which I am extremely grateful for and leaves me to focus on the actual mix and mastering. I do though, often do my own preparation as it is a good way to get familiar with the song. I always start by listening to a rough or demo mix, and by making notes. I like to become very familiar with the song and forge a strong vision of where to go with the mix. I always try to find that unique balance that just sounds on point, effortless and faultlessly balanced. I know from experience that when you put the time in to make that happen, the mix really brings the song to life!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a purpose-built studio with extensive acoustic treatment that is geared towards mixing and mastering. I have a wide selection of analogue gear for processing, centred around a powerful Pro Tools Ultimate / Logic Pro DAW setup. Neve, SSL, Manley, Distressor, 1176 etc and a selection of 3 speaker systems from very large to very small, as well as a number of headphones 🎧 My plugin list is enormous, even after I have reduced it several times 😂
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: So many, and in truth most people who dedicate themselves to music inspire me. I am most inspired by musicians who are singular and have a very strong sense of the artist or creator they are. They do not have to be prolific or uber-successful even 😎
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Firstly thank you for the interview. The most common work projects I undertake are mixing and mastering across a variety of genres. I am super lucky in that I work on a wide variety of musical styles with people all over the globe, and some really amazing artists, producers and musicians. I also write and produce music for TV, Radio and film and whilst this is not my main type of work, I have had a lot of my own productions featured over the years from TV shows to movies 🎬
