  12. A: Hearing the before and after of a song, it's like magic to me

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: I had a client ask me the other day "Why are you so nice and everyone else in the music industry is kind of a d*ck?" It really caught me off guard and I told him he either hasn't met the right people, or the people he has met, are doing the job they are doing for the wrong reasons. I do this job because I love music and I love the technical side of it

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: When I tell people I'm a mixing or mastering engineer and they assume its something to do with the construction or building industry

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What is the sound they are trying to achieve, it could be modern, vintage, retro, electronic, acoustic, etc. By knowing this it helps to use specific tools during the mix or mastering process to give it the desired feel they are looking for.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: Producing, mixing and mastering for over 10 years now I started when I was 21 as a producer, then I started doing mixing and mastering for friends, now I'd say I'm definitely over the 10,000 hour rule and would consider myself an expert at this.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Mixing and mastering: is years of finding my favorite plugins and analog gear, giving me a modern sound by utilizing the best secrets from engineers from every decade, starting from the 1960's. Production style: is pop and electronic fusion with guitar and real drums

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Odesza: they perfectly blend electronic and organic elements to create over the top productions that is unmatched with other artist. I really love their older albums more though than their new stuff

  30. A: Get the volume and panning right FIRST before applying any plugins to your tracks in the song! Also make sure it sounds great in mono not just stereo.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: All categories and sub categories of: Rock Pop EDM

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Listening to the artist and applying what is needed to the song for a great final result

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Over a decade of knowledge that brings out all the details in my clients music

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

I use a Merging Hapi to start my chain off with great DA converter and that goes into a Dangerous summing box then into my chain of analog gear that ends with my Crane Song HEDD Quantum AD converter, before finally coming back into the DAW. All of this plays out of Focal studio monitors to give me an amazingly accurate stereo image and frequency response, allowing me to deliver A+ results for my clients

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Bob Katz<Ive read his 500 page book on mastering he is a legend in the audio world Dave Pensado<Inspiring mixing engineer who gives tons of great knowledge for free And last but not least! Blake La'grange<My grammy winning mentor who taught me everything I know about mastering
