It's all about having the perfect part to your song or performance and I am here to help with that be it on electric, acoustic or bass. As a highly experienced gigging and recording musician I look forward to helping you make your project just how you vision it. Let's make a hit!
My guitar parts have been featured on tracks by Take That and Gary Barlow, Universal music, Mack Life Records and even a number 1 album in the UK.
For me it's all about the part and sound, be it one acoustic strumming guitar, a panned picked guitar or a full on rock guitar solo!
Every track will be different but we start the same way. Tell me your vision for the track and we can discuss the guitar parts and how many tracks may be needed. You can send me as much or as little idea's as you have, decide on the parts or let me create the parts.
Once we have discussed what need's done you will send me the project file, mp3 or wave and I get to the fun part.
I use LUNA by UAD and their plug ins.
You can also benefit from my production and songwriting and music degree experience if you wish.
The more clear you are to me about what you need, the easier it is to fit the brief.
I have Strat's, a Les Paul, Tele, Relish, L32 Avalon acoustic among other guitars.
I have a Neumann U47 (One of the best mic's of all time) and Lewitt microphones for acoustic recording.
Amp wise I enjoy using the kemper as when it's used right it sounds just like a real AMP if not better but I also have a Marshall and HI-WATT available.
I predominantly play Pop, Rock, Singer songwriter, Blues and TOP 40 music.
Send me a note through the contact button above.
Interview with Aaron Hoey
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I studied music and have a degree in music performance. I am 32 now and have been playing since 14.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I like to build layers but I also love the challenge of creating a catchy part.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Dermot Kennedy - Beautiful blend of acoustic based music with a more modern production. His songs are just a well crafted wall of sounds and he's a great great singer!!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I personally commit to sounds as much as I can as I go along. Don't be afraid to commit :). That way I get songs finished and don't lose sleep over too many decisions.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Often commercial and top 40 stuff but also cinematic based music, think along the lines of movie trailers and adverts as well a library music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I hope I always play parts that either fit the brief perfectly or when needed play parts that will really grab a listeners attention. I also enjoy building sounds and landscapes and pads on the guitar and building a huge wall of sound!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: It's always about two things - The right sounds and the right parts, never about me showing off.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: For me, I love to get to know the project and song. Every session will be different. Sometimes it's a one time record a big massive solo and the part is there and good to go. Other times over two days I may add more and more layers to a track as idea's come to me.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I currently have a number of custome shop strats and tele's, A Gibson Les Paul Goltop with p90's - beautiful sound and a relish Jane for heavier stuff. Acoustic wise I regularly use my Avalon L32. Mic's wise I have a Neumann U47 and Lewitt's set up. I also built a purpose built music recording room a few months ago! My interface is an Apollo Twin. I use Luna by UAD and use many great plug ins and compressors by them also.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Musicians like John Mayer for his guitar parts and tone. I enjoy songwriters like Foy Vance and Lewis Capaldi and Dermot Kennedy and James Bay.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My most regular sessions include recording Pop acoustic and electric guitar as well as sessions for trailer and soundtrack music, mostly ambient and cinematic, think Jason Bourne trailers.
