Interview with Space Katz
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both - Classic vintage synthesizers and processors combined with new sounds of tomorrow to achieve the best of both worlds and unique sounding tracks.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Purple Disco Machine, Tensnake, EDX, Ian Kirkpatrick, Calvin Harris, Rufus Du Sol, Camelphat, Monte, Avicii, Quincy Jones, Nile Rodgers - But this is just a few of many that inspire us!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Tender care for our tracks 😻, crowd experience from dj-ing for more than a decade - ear for what works on a dance floor (in the first years of dj-ing Niels kept a catalogue based on keynotes in different music songs), high quality standards, mixing current sounds with the "sound of tomorrow", admiration and inspiration from other artists who experiment with new sounds, new beats etc.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: (before vocals)Composing and producing instrumental before vocals (after vocals) Quality sounding productions, sense for details
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Jamming creating melodies and beats, sound designing, finishing instrumental for vocalists/songwriters, feedback on demo vocals and lyrics, receiving final vocals, arranging track around the new vocal, mixing, testing out the track in different environments, adjusting, tuning, optimizing, repeat, creating final mix
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: We look forward to work with you!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Pioneer DJ booth, laptop with endless power (and Soundbetter access), synthesizers, refrigerator with endless supply of water, wine and Corona beer
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: DJ'ing since 2005, creating remixes and edits for our DJ sets along the way, creating own original tracks from here
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: A mix of classic sounds, combined with the sounds of tomorrow. We enjoy catchy harmonies full of emotions, beautiful vocals, a touch of dusty synths but in a clean well-balanced mix :)
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Good vocalists because we sing pretty terrible ourselves and enjoy to collaborate :)
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Have fun and have passion for what you do :)
