Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: Working in TV & Film is always my favorite venture! I've had the opportunity to lend my voice to movie soundtracks, international commercials, and national television networks and always love catching my voice on the "big screen."

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: At the moment, I'm focused on connecting with more clients to expand my rolodex of projects. I love being a versatile musician and having something new and different to work on each week!

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

A: Pearl Snap Studios (for demo production & mixing) & Ryan Casey (for guitar) - these guys are top-notch and I can't recommend them enough!

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Personally, I think both have pros and cons! Digital allows us to work quickly and efficiently in this remote-recording world, while analog has that vintage charm that lends such a warm and inviting tone. I think it really depends on the setting and what best compliments your music.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: Hm...a question I get all the time is whether I'm working on my own artistry career or simply a work-for-hire vocalist. My answer is - I'm not working on an artist career at the moment! I enjoy working behind the scenes with songwriters, producers, labels, and production companies and would love to stay in that world for now.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: Being a full-time professional musician is just like any other job. True, I do get to do what I love and make a living doing it, but being your own CEO does come with its own set of headaches!

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: Do you have any references I can study to get a feel for your vision? What genre does your piece fit best in (soul, rock, indie pop, etc)? Do you need just lead vocals or background vocals/harmonies/ad libs as well? What is your timeline?

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Do your research! Take the time to check out my samples so you know what to expect when it comes to tone, technique, and style - that way there will be no surprises when we work together on your project. And send over as much direction as you can regarding your vision, I love references and will always do my best to nail the style you're going for.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: My style is all over the place. I grew up listening to 90's country and classic rock...legends like Shania Twain, Journey, ELO, and Martina McBride. Then, as I started forming my own musical tastes, I switched over to indie & alternative, which morphed into jazz, soul, and motown. Now I love neo-soul, funk fusion, R&B...I guess you could say my style is a mix of all these different musical influences, and still changing every day!

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: If I could work with any artist or band, it'd have to be Lake Street Dive. I've been a fan of theirs for awhile now, and just have so much respect for them - whether it's their style, their songs, their stage presence, their chemistry, their passion...they just seem to create such an awesome atmosphere wherever they go, and I'd love to be a part of it!

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: A skilled session musician will make post production a breeze - clean, professionally recorded tracks means less time tuning and editing for your mixing engineer, saving you loads of money and time in the long run!

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: I am constantly working on all styles of music, including pop, country, CCM, jazz, soul, R&B, and so much more!

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: When working together, I'll first want to know all about your project and listen though any worktapes or demos you might have ready to share. This gives me a chance to double check the vocal range, ask for key flexibility if needed, and get a feel for your needs. Once we lock in together, I'll then need copies of your instrumental tracks, worktapes, lyrics, and any references or samples that will help me match the style and vibe you're going for. I then will study your music and let the creative process take over from there! After laying down the best possible tracks, I'll share my bounce(s) with you for your approval and work through any requested revisions. After final approval, I'll make sure to clean up and comp my vocal takes and then send over the final dry stems to be fitted seamlessly within your project!

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I have all the equipment necessary to deliver a high-quality product from my home studio, including the Apollo Twin DuoX Audio Interface, Neuman TLM 103 condensor microphone, and plenty more to ensure top-notch vocals!

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: I typically provide lead vocals, harmonies, background vocals, ad libs, and top lining in all genres for my clients.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I always knew I wanted to be a full-time musician and have been recording music professionally since 2014.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: To deliver the best tracks possible, and, if I don't get it right the first time, to work with you until you're 100% satisfied.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: Luckily for me, being a singer means I don't have to carry around as much gear as the typical studio musician 😅 I would bring my steamer (gotta hydrate those vocal cords!), a lifetime supply of tea, my water bottle, my computer, and my electric piano!

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: I love getting to sing for a living! However, the best thing about my job specifically is that I get to meet new people each and every day and be a part of their passion projects. Getting to be on someone else's music team and helping to support their vision is such a fulfilling task, and that's truly what makes my job the best job out there.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: My greatest strength as a singer is vocal control, or my ability to blend in or stand out depending on what each specific song might need. If someone is looking for smooth background vocals and harmonies that seamlessly cushion any existing vocals, that's right up my alley. On the other hand, if you're looking for a strong female lead to shine on your track, then I'm your girl as well!

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: With ever song I record, it's my goal to make sure I'm not just singing along to a guide track, but that I'm delivering the message and intention behind the song through my voice. Every song has a purpose and history, and I always want to honor that by doing the best job possible while lending my voice to someone's vision!

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: Vocally, my top musical inspirations are Ella Fitzgerald, Rachael Price of Lake Street Dive, and Lianne La Havas. I love all of these ladies' tones and unique styles, and I think my most natural singing voice is a mix of all of them! However, since I sing all styles of music all the time, there are a lot of different vocalists that I emulate to fit whatever project I might be working with on any given day.
