Endorse Mark Addison . ProducerI wanted Mark to review the album I've recently finished - or thought I had. Mark is charming and educated. He knows the music biz well. He critiqued each track with a skill and knowledge that was never negative but always constructive. I felt really good as I left his studio. And yes, I think I'll swap out one of the tracks - as Mark advised.
I've known and worked with Mark for almost 20 years. He's a fantastic musician and producer. He has great ideas to make the music come to life and is such a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend working with him for anyone looking to cut albums, EPs, demos.
I worked with Mark on a few projects early in my career. He was the perfect mix of collaborative and tastefully discerning in a fun, creative environment. I learned a lot from our experience together at a very formative time in my career. If you're looking to make a great record and become a better artist in the process, choose Mark. Thats what he does.
I worked with Mark at a pivotal time in my career. I was coming off of 3 bid budget records and this was a self release. Mark helped me make a creative and inspired record that carved out a new niche for me. In addition to being a great engineer, he has real producer chops; arrangement and song structure, but to that point, he was never heavy handed, letting me take or leave information as it suited my own taste. The studio was also a great hang, which is an important component that some folks miss. Great experience that not only made for a great record, but also taught me a ton!
I made my first record with Mark. He is patient, enthusiastic and highly creative. Recording with him helped me get outside of my comfort zone. He has a great sensibility for where songs should go lyrically and sonically. One of the best bass players I’ve ever heard, and he’s no slouch on keys or guitar to boot. Most of all, he’s wonderful human being that I’m lucky to know. Wanna make a record? Mark’s your guy
Mark is one of the most creative and nurturing humans I know. I am extremely proud of the work we've done together and always hope to do more with this amazing talent.
Great feel for the song. A pleasure to work with. Fabulous facility. Best ears in the business.
I saw Mark play in The Hideout in Chicago around 2002 with Kitty Gordon,Jeff Kline and Will Sexton.I bought all their records,he had produced them all. It was time for me to make my 3rd album. I e mailed Mark and asked him would he be up for trying out 3 songs. We laid them down and immediately I knew I was in the right hands. Eventually we made the whole album which included everyone from that chance meeting in Chicago. Sheridan Roalson did backing vocals and Nina Singh played drums. Mark is a gifted guitarist, bassist and piano player and songsmith. The album hit No.1 in Ireland in 2004!Mundy
From songwriting techniques, lyrical choices, imagery suggestions to chordal structure and melody knowledge. Mark's go it. He's got the brain for instrument selection/mic selection and a positive directional push... fast behind the knobs and editing in the box, Mark's a savvy engineer/producer who knows how to pull the best out of you and get the song where it belongs, while also knowing when to back off and let you be just be you. Addison's great creative studio space on the outskirts of beautiful Austin, Tx is an amazing place to work. Can't wait till next time!
Mark is one of the most prolific, creative musician/songwriters I know. He puts his heart and soul into every project. I have done a bunch of vocal sessions with him and the parts he creates are always unique and sound great in the mix.
The astounding, mindfully produced oh-so-right arrangements, instrumentation and subtle harmonizing vocals of Mark Addison can not be overstated. Musicians who have worked with him are always able to receive a new recipe for sound in an overwhelming sea of music. It was an honor to work beside him on my project; he was emotionally as well as intellectually supportive of my concepts and brought more to the table than I could have by myself. He is also an exceptional songwriter. I wish I could give him 11 stars.
Mark is absolutely one of the most talented people I have ever known! He takes every project to the next level. He's dedicated, intelligent, efficient and gives every note and beat the space and tone it deserves. I highly recommend Mark Addison!
Mark is one of the very first producers I worked with in Austin back in the 90s. He knows exactly what he wants and makes things extremely quick and painless (and of course fun). I've been lucky enough to get to record with him a few more times over the years and have the fondest memories of him in his studio with his dogs producing some of the finest music, always giving the clearest direction. His communication and descriptions produce some of the best outcomes and I love seeing how quickly we can accomplish so much!
A producer like no other. One of my favorite recording experiences. His approach and results are organic and he brings out the best of you as a writer and musician. In our particular sessions we wrote and recorded a new song from scratch each day starting only with s cup of coffee and any inkling of a lyric, melody, and/or riff. His ideas were on point with our vision and added a flavor that only his experience, talent, and resourcefulness could bring. I highly recommend you trust this man with your art.
One of the great producers and musicians of our time. Innovative and unique .. always delivering quality product...
Mark has amazed me with his ideas, editing and musical tastes.
He's a working musician, producer and all-around great guy.
I have been out to record and document Mark's studio life.
Always inspired by him.
He's worked with some of the most amazing musicians i know.
A treasure. He's a great producer! Definitely recommend him to anyone that needs a producer!!
I met Mark in 2010 after moving to Austin. I’ve been a recording engineer myself since the early 90’s and I had just finished my second album. I was in need of a pair of “golden ears” to master the album and someone told me about Mark and to give him a call. Truly grateful I did! He brought the record to life. He went on to master my third release in 2012 and even mixed a couple tracks for me. I highly recommend working with him for any part of the production process. Your ears and your vision will thank you!
Mark is a gifted producer, Engineer and songwriter. He is a rarity in this day and age - skilled at everything from perfecting the structure of a song to finding the best bass drum sound or guitar tone, to experimenting with weird sounds you didn’t know you needed until you heard them. He is also a versatile Multi instrumentalist who can pretty much master any instrument he picks up. I recorded six full length albums with Mark as well as several other side projects. He is also an incredible cook, and cultivates a vibrant sense of community around his studio in Austin. Highly recommend!
I've worked on 6 records with Mark Addison in his fantastically equipped studio, have performed with him live in the USA and Europe, and can enthusiastically endorse and recommend! Incredible set of ears, brilliant and intuitive as a producer, killer chops on a multitude of musical instruments ...makes excellent coffee too! Uber-talented fella and all-around great guy. 5 Stars.
