Cristian Crepaldi on SoundBetter

My goal is to fulfil your needs for any music-related task to represent your artistic vision. I am always determined to create something unique, and I am looking forward to creating a long-lasting professional relationship with you. I produce trap, hip-hop, indie-pop, singer-songwriter and dance.

My name is Cristian (AKA 'cubv'), a music producer from Italy and recent graduate in Music & Sound Production at Bournemouth University. The past 5 years I've worked in a variety of project from sound for film to indie singles.
My favourite genres are Trap/Hip-Hop and Pop (80s Synth & Acoustic Guitars).

Hip Hop/Trap Beat: I can produce the beat from reference tracks or the sound of artists that you like. I like to communicate every detail in order to achieve the best result. My favourite type of beats are XXXTentacion, Post Malone and Mura Masa.

Pop Production: I can create a full production around your voice and make your track radio ready! I am also a guitarist so I can record pop melodies with an acoustic/electric guitar.

Interview with Cristian Crepaldi

  1. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  2. A: I make beats and I usually mix and master their songs. I also clean and edit vocals it's one of the best parts of the job, I love to get the vocals sound amazing.

  3. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  4. A: Mura Masa, Flume, Skrillex, FKJ.

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: MacBook Pro 2012, Focusrite 2i2, Fender Stratocaster, AKAI Key 25 and Beyerdynamics DT990 Pro.

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: I usually bounce ideas with my guitar and after I transpose them with piano and other electronic instruments. I found myself beginning with melodies and chords. Once I got the vibe going I will start adding drums and percussions. I am usually really quick on drafting beats.

  9. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  10. A: I usually bring my guitar tone and strong melodies. I like to experiment with different tones and push the boundaries of pop.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: Sound design plucks and pads. I use any sound in the real world to create different textures and bring a unique tone in the song.

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: I usually work on Trap, Hip-Hop and R&B

  15. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  16. A: Of course! I recommend using the filter of a compressor to decide from what frequencies the plugin will get triggered. For example, if you are trying to glue your mix on the master bus the low frequencies usually contain more energy. If you tell the compressor to take into account only the levels from 200 Hz you will duck the sound on the frequencies above glueing the sound.

  17. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  18. A: Mura Masa, Jorja Smith, Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar and Skrillex. If I manage to work with any of these artists I will cry like a baby for a week.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: Soft melancholic and dark

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I've started producing in the past three years. My career path was Information Technology. I am now putting all my energy to build my career in the music industry and build my own recording studio.

  23. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  24. A: MacBook Pro 2012, Focusrite 2i2, Fender Stratocaster, AKAI Key 25 and Beyerdynamics DT990 Pro.

  25. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  26. A: Be honest and direct with me. I don't like wasting time and I don't like guessing things. Be clear with me, I don't mind being criticised and I rather you tell me that you didn't like the job. Because it's from your feedback that I will grow. Also, I will do extra work for free if you are not satisfied.

  27. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  28. A: What instrumentation would you like? Can you send me some reference tracks? Do you have a deadline?

  29. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  30. A: That it's easy and effortless.
