Asked for a mix with the vox lowered for performing purposes and never got it. Mix is a little above average. Does sound clean though.

Michael was great from start to finish. I looked for three things when finding someone to mix and master my track and that was quality, promptness, and communication and he was all of that! Even helped to work on the track after I had paid in full to ensure I had what I was looking for! Would definitely recommend!

Interview with MICHAEL - MBE AUDIO
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Turning a clients dream into reality sonically, many people have a vision for their project or song that they believe is unobtainable in many aspects. I love showing the client how good their music can sound.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Anybody can do it and it's easy.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Typically I review the notes given to me by the artist, following that I listen to the song 1st to get a feel for it and then once again to compare it to the notes. Once I make my notes on what I want to improve alongside what the client ask for I begin getting an overall level to the song with a single pass. Following the first pass I begin to work on what is most important in the song, for many songs it is the vocals and drums. Once the most important areas are covered I then begin to bring the rest of the song into focus, I tweak until the complete song sounds and feels right.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The bulk of my work is based around mixing and production. I really enjoy mixing, it's my chance to shape the record in a creative way to help make it even more appealing to its audience.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Hopefully your music!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes! If you need a hit record written then I would definitely tell you to go and see Mickey Shiloh, she has written for some of your favorite stars plus she is a really cool person.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Ideally I would love to work with both as often as possible because they both have their strengths. There is nothing like authentic analog warmth or even just the feel of touching knobs, with that being said digital provides flexibility. I would then have to say digital would be my choice because you can get really close to analog sound theses day's and the ability to have total recall at a push of a button is priceless.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I am very capable and open to mixing any genre, but the one's I work on usually are Pop, Hip Hop, R&B, Gospel and Acoustic Rock.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have two setups depending on where I am. At the studio, I have a pair of Mackie MR8 monitors and some Yamahas, ART Tube Compressor, UAD Apollo, Dual Monitors, Mackie Big Knob, Mac Pro,DBX 160, Neve 1073, Waves plugins among many others, Icon Digital Qcon Pro's for the control surface etc. My mobile rig is a Macbook Pro Retina, UAD Apollo Twin, AKG 712 headphones, Tannoy Monitors, and of course an arsenal of plugins.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to give my all to your music, I promise to deliver a product that is professional and high quality, I promise to work with you to make your song everything you want it to be.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask what is your vision for the song and what they expect from me when mixing their music.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: For production it's all about feeling, don't worry about keeping up with trends musically just focus on the feeling of creating and before you know it you will be the new trend. Mixing is very much the same, someone else's ear isn't what clients are paying for, they are paying for yours stay true to yourself.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring great balance, depth, and warmth while maintaining clarity and punch.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am inspired by mix engineers like Dave Pensado, Jaycen Joshua, and Many Marroquin, they all are able to give you clean yet warm punchy mixes and that's what I strive to do every time. As far as producers are concerned I am inspired by people like Dr.Dre, Timbaland, Alex Da Kid, Jim Jonsin, The Underdogs, Dj BattleCat, Ryan Leslie, and Dj Dahi to name a few.
