Looking for quality mixing, mastering, and production from a certified audio engineer? Let's work together to bring the sound you're looking for to your next project.
Hey there! My name's Matthew Cloutier, and I want to work with YOU to bring the sound your looking for to your next project.
I'm experienced in mixing and mastering, audio editing, live sound, podcast editing, and production among other areas.
I've been invested in audio all my life, and have an strong background in music theory after years of private instruction. Combined with interning in recording studios and operating my own home studio and business, NMN. Productions, I have been actively training and honing my craft as an audio engineer.
I work in Pro Tools and FL Studio, and master in iZotope's Ozone suite. With my skill-set and toolkit, I promise to deliver a quality product to you every time, on time.

Interview with NMN. Productions
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: NoHenn's BackUpInDis. It's our first project as a group and I'm very proud to have mixed and mastered it all in-house.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: For mixing it's as simple as editing and cleaning vocals and aligning takes, leveling my tracks, then adding EQ and compression to taste! For production I usually start with the melody and harmony before or after browsing for samples. I lay out my drums either through Maschine or FPC. I produce beats exclusively for the artists, taking into considering their sound from previous mixes and how they prefer their automation.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in Pro Tools and FL Studio. My studio setup is a Rode NT1 microphone through a Focusrite 18i20 interface. My hardware includes a Yamaha 02R mixing board, Focusrite OctoPre pre-amp, and Yamaha HS8 monitors. I work on PC and mix in Pro Tools.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My own debut Hip-Hop album titled "Self-Portrait".
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! It's 2019, people! I truly believe the best sound in the studio comes from a blend of both analog gear and a wide digital toolbox.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'll do my absolute best to reflect the sound you want in your music. Period.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The unexpected. No job is the same as any other, and to quote Pawn Stars, "You never know whats coming through that door."
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What do you most want accomplished in your project? What NEEDS to be done perfectly?
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Originally I was attending Bellevue College in Washington State for Journalism and media, but after taking a class on campus for music production in 2017, I left to join a trade school called the Recording Radio and Film Connection in 2018. Since then I have been working in multiple professional recording environments and practicing my craft with my own Hip-Hop group and other local Seattle talent.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: It can range from laid back and introspective, to hype and ominous.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Childish Gambino. His musical creativity and willingness to push the norm is all I aspire to be.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Simplicity is key.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip-Hop and Rap. I have a strong background in R&B and alternative music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Creative problem-solving.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A strong intuition of what the song NEEDS and DOESN'T need.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Artists like 9th Wonder and Cxdy are producers that inspire me to go beyond the normal and look for that unique sound in every one of my mixes and beats.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I primarily mix and master, with production on the side with my label, entertainment team, or for personal use.
