Endorse Giovani GoulartInterview with Giovani Goulart
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I did a job with a huge dimension! I composed lyrics and music from projeot called Mundus21 which is online and was a project for all Portuguese speaking countries! There are several countries that know my composition! I am very happy
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment I'm finishing a Brazilian music album, I'm starting a piano project and 4 percussionists, I'm composing songs for a theatrical play and doing 5 songs for a movie.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I'm coming now and I still do not know the colleagues but I will certainly recommend many of them because if they are here it is because they do an excellent job
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both ! They are different and complementary sound proposals!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My only promise is: I commit seriousness and respect to both parties.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like everything ! I love making music, I get very involved with musical productions and I always get excited about the beautiful final result of the projects
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Clients ask different things, but the most recurring questions are: Price Time I read to finish the job If I authorize full use of my work Akguns want to know if the labor price includes the rights to use the work and if I want to receive the royalties I am very flexible in the negotiations but I demand that the platform closely follow the whole process because, boring and unhappy customers will exist throughout life ... I am lucky to see my clients coming back and buying new jobs every time!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The wrongdoing almost does not happen but when it happens it is for lack of dialogue and understanding. For example: I did a job for a client and he loved the job ... the next day he came back asking to make changes because his friend had suggested other things and he changed his mind because of his friend's influence This is very boring !
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I always ask if the customer has a link with the sound they would like to have or if they have any reference for me to listen to before they start work. I always ask for clues with metronome, tonality indication, and the format in which I want the work to be delivered
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Before hiring a professional, check out his career and his musical work onlne!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Computer Piano Percussion Microphone Accordion :-)
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've always been a musician, I've never had another profession! Work making arrangements for orchestras, groups, singers, films, videos and theaters. There are so many years working with music that I have not even seen the years go by! My father was also a musician, my family has many musicians and music was the only way that I loved! I love what I do !
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I come from the old school of music! I really like acoustic sonority but I always prefer to be open-minded for joints of different sounds as long as they are adapted to a musical purpose. I mix jazz with afro, pop with rock, balladas with R & B and I always use what the song asks for. So I do not close the doors to what is modern.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I've worked with several artists and being instrumentalist of a well-known name of music is no longer my goal. I want to dedicate myself totally to making musical productions and studio works
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: A very important tip for music producers is: Produce musical creations that fit your client, do not impose their ideals, always accept a way of thinking and feeling the music even if it is a different form of your The work is always for the client and not for the music producer :-)
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work with several different musical styles ... each author has his style and his musical environment and during all these years, I have always learned a lot from those who work with me. I am always attentive to the way of feeling that the musician transmits and captures very well the musical intentions
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest ability is musical sensitivity ... with this ability I can express the intention of every client who works with me
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: As a music producer and composer that I am, I always bring the environment adapted to the soloist's performance by highlighting the soloist's musical personality
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: The process I usually use is: Create a track with a click, synchronize the music in the desired bpm, record a piano guide, record the final Drum Set, record the bass and percussions, carefully select the tones for each song, mix and master .
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: In my studio I use top of the range equipment. I have Neumanns, Sontronics, AKG and Sennheizer microphones. I have a beautiful percussion kit and an excellent sound result
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My musical references are of the worldmusic style and I have a strong connection with the rhythmic and harmonious question of the songs. I like to recreate musical paths that inspire new sonorities and new rhythms
